Boots announced plans to close hundreds of stores last year

Another Boots store will close this week, as the pharmacy and beauty continues with plans to shut hundreds of locations.

The Boots in Collington Mansions, Bexhill on Sea in East Sussex will shut for the final time this Saturday.

A customer posted an alert, believed to have been issued on the Boots app, on social media, warning others of the closures.

The message said affected customers could visit the Bexhill on Sea Devonshire Road site for prescriptions, help and advice from the pharmacy team, plus a selection of health and beauty products.

Boots customers have reportedly told about local closures via the app and through signs on the window of the sites

While the alternative site is less than a mile away from the closing store, local residents have shared their concern about the decision.

A GB News reader said they thought it would “put a great strain on other pharmacies” in a town with a “sizeable elderly population”.

The Boots in Ankerside Shopping Centre in Tamworth, Staffordshire, is set to close on March 23, Birmingham Live reports.

Boots in Tamworth's Ankerside Shopping Centre is set to close in just under two months' time. The huge store will shut on March 23.

A sign in the window reportedly says: “We are closing. This store will close on March 23.

"Your nearest store for collection prescriptions will be Ventura Park.

“Other stores nearby are Tamworth Street, Lichfield and Stonnyland Drive, Lichfield.

“Speak to the pharmacy team in the branch or scan for help with your future prescription needs.”

GB News has contacted Boots asking for comment.

Boots announced plans to reduce its store estate by around 300 last year, with closures taking place in 2023 and in 2024.

It’s understood customers will still be able to visit Boots within three miles of where a site has shut.

A spokesperson said last year: "Evolving the store estate in this way allows Boots to concentrate its team members where they are needed and focus investment more acutely in individual stores with the ambition of consistently delivering an excellent and reliable service in a fresh and up-to-date environment."
