Barclays has issued a statement about future bonus payments for customers

Britons hoping to cash in on another bank switching bonus have been given an update from Barclays.

The high street lender has commented on whether similar incentives could return following the end of its recent £200 offer.

Barclays had been offering £200 to customers who switched to a Barclays Bank Account, with applications closing on May 28.

Some eligible customers have already started receiving the bonus payment in their accounts.

The offer was launched amid intense competition between banks, with several major providers using cash incentives to attract new customers.

Nationwide Building Society recently announced a £175 switching bonus, alongside its Fairer Share scheme, which provides eligible members with a £100 payment.

Asked whether it could launch another switching deal in the future, a Barclays spokesperson said: "We regularly review our products and offers to make sure they meet the needs of our customers, and we'll continue to assess opportunities in this space."

The bank was also asked what factors it considers when deciding whether to introduce similar promotions in the future.

Barclays responded: "We keep our propositions under constant review, listening closely to customer feedback and considering a range of factors to ensure we're providing competitive and compelling options."

The comments suggest the lender remains open to future incentive schemes, though no specific plans have been confirmed.

The bank has also provided clarity on its debit card replacement procedures following a customer enquiry via social media.

A customer had contacted Barclays asking when they could expect to receive a new card as their current one was approaching its expiry date.
