In 2025 GB News was proud to partner with The London Taxi Drivers' Charity for Children

In 2025 GB News had the honour of partnering with The London Taxi Drivers’ Charity for Children. You may recognise the charity for their iconic balloon-covered taxi convoys, where around 80 volunteer taxi drivers come together to give children and their carers a memorable day out at the seaside or zoo.

With Queen Consort Camilla as a patron, the charity has gone from strength to strength during its near-century-long history, bringing joy, comfort, and essential support to thousands of disadvantaged and special-needs children.

We had the privilege of speaking with Honorary Chairman Antony Moore, who you may recognise from appearances on GB News, about the charity’s remarkable impact and its partnership with GB News. Antony first became involved with charity almost 15 years ago, after beginning his taxi driver training and being invited by an instructor to take part in a few of the charity’s events.

Since then, Antony’s involvement has grown significantly, and he has helped champion the charity on a national scale. Many will remember the widely reported moment when Paddington teddy bears were personally handed out by the Queen Consort herself in memory of the late Queen Elizabeth II. The bears were given police escort along with three volunteers from The London Taxi Drivers Charity for Children, including Antony.

Just last Sunday the charity hosted their Christmas party which saw: “Approximately 700 children, around about 400 carers, where they were entertained by singers, dancers, face painters. We had the King’s Welsh Guards, so they turned up in their full regalia to do a 20-minute procession on the dance floor and then hung around putting their hats onto kids for photographs.”

Along with hundreds of volunteer taxi drivers over the decades, the charity is supported by a dedicated committee of 12 volunteers, three of whom are over the age of 80. One member in particular has devoted an incredible 55 years – a testament to the passion and kindness at the heart of the charity.

Operating as a completely non-profit organisation, the charity relies entirely on volunteers. As Antony explains, none of them take a penny for their efforts: “Everybody gives up time because they want to, and that’s something we’re very proud of.”

With just two years to go until the charity’s 100th anniversary, exciting celebrations are being planned. While details remain under wrapped for now, there is no doubt the milestone will be a truly memorable event.

So next time you’re in London, keep an eye out for black cabs with smiling taxi plush toys in the window. This is a sure sign that the driver behind the window is one of the incredible volunteers who selflessly give their time and dedication to bringing joy to hundreds of children.

The partnership between GB News and the London Taxi Drivers’ Charity has proven to be a hugely successful collaboration.
