Britain's most senior Army official sparked debate over the re-introduction of conscription yesterday as he urged British citizens to be "trained and equipped" to fight in war. So, GB News asked you - would you trust today's youth to fight for the UK?
General Sir Patrick Sanders said that an increase in reserve forces alone "would not be enough" for the threats of the modern world.
He warned the UK currently had a "pre-war generation" who would need to prepare for conflict that was of a "whole-of-nation undertaking".
He expressed concern that the UK's armed forces were currently unprepared for a full scale war.
Sanders said: "Our procurement record has been poor and our land industrial base has withered. Furthermore our Army Reserve is not as capable and credible as we need it to be."
While he did not explicitly call for conscription, instead suggesting there was a need for an army of volunteers, his comments sparked concern that enforced enrolment could be necessary in the future.
It also led to questions being asked as to whether Gen Z would be willing to fight in any such conflict.
Voting in our poll, 89 per cent said they would not trust Britain's youth to fight for the UK. Meanwhile, eight per cent said they would and three per cent said they did not know.
