The recall affects TK Maxx and Homesense shoppers

TK Maxx has issued an urgent product recall for Children's Swim Vests that could pose a safety hazard.

The discount retailer warned customers to "immediately" stop using the vests, which were sold in stores from April through August 2025.

The safety alert affects multiple designs and colours of swim vests, all priced at £9.99.

According to the company, the products carry falsely applied CE certification marks despite not undergoing mandatory testing "to the required safety standards".

"It may not be suitable for use as a buoyancy aid and, if relied upon as such, could pose a risk of drowning."

In total, 17 different product codes are included in the recall: 819852, 819854, 819856, 819864, 819866, 819868, 819870, 819884, 819886, 819888, 819904, 819906, 819908, 819910, 819911, 819912, and 819914.

Customers can identify affected items by checking these codes on their price tickets or receipts.

The swim vests were available in various colours and patterns throughout TK Maxx stores during the four-month sales period.

Parents and guardians who bought these items are urged to check their purchases.

The company has instructed affected customers to "stop using it immediately and return to any TK Maxx or Homesense store" for a complete refund or replacement product.

The vests' lack of proper safety certification means they cannot be trusted to keep children afloat in water.

Without undergoing the required buoyancy tests, the products may fail to provide adequate flotation when needed most.

Customers seeking assistance can contact TK Maxx's customer service team on 01923 473561 or via email at customerservice@tjxeurope.com. Irish customers should call 01 2476126 or use the same email address.

The retailer has not specified whether proof of purchase is necessary for returns.

All impacted swim vests will be accepted at any TK Maxx or Homesense location across the UK and Ireland.

This marks the second major product safety issue for TK Maxx in recent weeks. In July, the retailer recalled wooden deck chairs after discovering they could unexpectedly collapse during use.

This recall involved folding chairs with fabric seats and wooden frames sold between March and June at both TK Maxx and Homesense stores, with 23 product codes implicated.

Product safety notices, including recalls and withdrawals, should always be taken seriously to ensure customer safety.
