Thin hair and looking for a boost? According to one expert stylist, the blunt bob should be your new 'do.
While some are lucky enough to boast thick, luscious locks, thin hair is extremely common. You may have been born with it, or experienced gradual thinning or sudden hair loss later in life.
Whatever the cause, it's possible to restore volume and bounce with the right hairstyle.
Sadly, a new chop cannot target the root causes of hair loss (you may need to enlist a dermatologist for expert guidance), but a fresh cut can go a long way in terms of instant effect.
According to professional hairstylist Glam Girl Gabi (@glamgirlgabi on TikTok), a blunt bob is "bold, elegant, and timeless".
Explaining why it works so well on thin hair, the expert shared: "This cut can make a big difference because the blunt edge gives the illusion of thicker, fuller hair without needing a bunch of volumising products or styling tricks.
"Because all the strands end in a straight line, it naturally creates more weight and density at the bottom, tricking the eye into thinking it's thicker than it is."
Describing the style as "lifting", she added: "There's something about that strong, sharp line that brings structure and definition to the face, especially around the jawline, which is an area we start to lose as we get older."

As well as having this lifting effect, the blunt bob is also versatile when it comes to both style and length.
For a "classic" look, the bob can be worn "sleek and straight". Meanwhile, a slight bend achieves a "relaxed and modern" feel.
Whether you prefer bangs or a bare forehead, the hairstylist added that it works with or without a fringe.
As for length, while the blunt bob conjures up the image of a dynamic, chin-length chop, it's actually perfect for short and longer styles alike.

However, a lob (long bob) that sits on the collarbone is softer but still extremely chic, the expert advised.
Glam Girl Gabi concluded that the blunt bob is the perfect chop if your hair is fine or thinning, which is incredibly common as oestrogen levels drop with age.
However, it must be noted that while a haircut can somewhat disguise gradual thinning or more sudden hair loss, a dermatologist or trichologist is needed for long-term solutions.
Aside from ageing, there are several factors that can cause hair loss, including genetics, cancer treatment, childbirth, illness and other stressors, medication, hormonal imbalances, thyroid disease and more.
