Tesco confirmed that no other products are affected by the issue

Tesco is the latest supermarket to issue a food recall, alerting customers to the presence of an undeclared ingredient in a popular biscuit.

Myprotein Gooey Filled Cookie in Double Chocolate & Caramel flavour contains wheat protein, which is not mentioned on the label, making it a possible health risk to those with an allergy or intolerance to wheat or gluten, or those who suffer from coeliac disease.

Tesco advised customers not to consume the product if purchased. Instead, they should return it to any Tesco store for a full refund or replacement, with no receipt required.

For further information, customers can contact THG Nutrition at qualityassurance@thehutgroup.com or call 0800 260 6949.

Alternatively, Tesco Customer Services can be reached directly on 0800 505 555.

The retailer confirmed that no other products are affected by this issue.

Health and beauty retailer Boots also issued a similar recall notice for the same product, covering both the single 75g cookie and boxes of 12 cookies.

Customers who have purchased either of the affected products can return them to any Boots store for a full refund, with or without a receipt.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) emphasised that those who suffer from coeliac disease, and/or an allergy or intolerance to wheat or gluten, should not consume the Myprotein snacks.

Bupa explained that symptoms of gluten intolerance are similar to those of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and coeliac disease.

Gastrointestinal symptoms include abdominal pain, bloating, diarrhoea, and constipation.

Sufferers may also experience non-gastrointestinal symptoms, such as headaches, tiredness, brain fog, joint and muscle pain, and skin rash.

Those who suffer from an IgE-mediated wheat allergy may experience symptoms such as rhinitis, asthma, hives (urticaria), swelling (angio-oedema) or anaphylaxis. These could occur within minutes or up to two hours after consuming wheat, according to Allergy UK.

There may also be vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal pain and a flare-up of eczema.

It's important to note that anaphylaxis is incredibly serious. As described by the NHS, anaphylaxis is a "life-threatening allergic reaction that happens very quickly".

This comes as milk was pulled from shelves over bacteria contamination fears.
