The fan-favourite treat has now been revived, ending a decade-long Malteser-themed drought for shoppers all over the country

Mars has delighted chocolate lovers by returning white chocolate Maltesers to British supermarket shelves after an 11-year hiatus.

The beloved confectionery, which vanished from shops in 2014, has been spotted at Morrisons stores ahead of the official relaunch date of June 16.

Eagle-eyed shoppers have already discovered the treats during their weekly shops, sharing their finds on social media. The chocolates are appearing in both fun-sized and sharing pack formats across the supermarket chain.

The early availability has sparked considerable excitement amongst consumers who have long awaited the return of the white chocolate variant of the classic Maltesers range.

Morrisons is offering the white Maltesers in three different sizes, with prices starting from £1.05 for a 30g pack. Customers can also purchase a 74g pack for £2.50 or a larger 126g sharing bag for £2.95.

The announcement has generated enthusiastic responses on social media platforms. One customer wrote on the Newfoodsuk Facebook page: "I was addicted to these when I was in school. Only white chocolate I liked."

Another eager shopper chimed in: "Been craving these for years so we must get them." A third exclaimed: "WHAAAAAT!!!! They've finally brought them back."

The Facebook post showcasing the returned product has garnered more than 600 comments and approximately 1,000 likes from feverish consumers.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS

The white chocolate Maltesers originally launched in 2003 as a seasonal product but proved so popular that Mars made them a permanent fixture. However, the company discontinued the line in 2014, leaving devoted fans without their favourite treat for over a decade.

The public's desire for their return reached such heights that a petition was launched in 2017, calling on Mars to bring back the white chocolate variant. This sustained consumer pressure appears to have finally convinced the confectionery giant to resurrect the product.

Mars has confirmed that both fun-sized and sharing packs will be available in supermarkets and independent stores from June 16.

The return of white chocolate Maltesers comes as the British confectionery market experiences a wave of similarly chocolate-inspired innovation.

Cadbury has announced several new products this month, including a Dairy Milk Iced Latte bar featuring creamy coffee filling and crunchy biscuit pieces.

The chocolate maker has also introduced four limited edition bars with temperature-sensitive packaging and teased the launch of a White Dipped Twirl bar, available from some retailers for 99p.

Additionally, Lidl has begun stocking Della Sante chocolate cream spread for £4.99, or £3.99 for Lidl Plus members.
