The supermarket has mastered 'affordable excellence' with the Veuve Monsigny Champagne Brut

A £14.95 bottle of champagne from Aldi has claimed the top prize at the World Champagne Awards 2025, "triumphing" over luxury competitors.

The discount supermarket's Veuve Monsigny Champagne Brut secured the coveted World's Best Champagne title at the prestigious competition.

In a "sparkling victory" for the retailer, Aldi has "cemented its place as a game-changer in the world of fine wine and champagne".

The achievement solidifies Aldi's "growing reputation for delivering high-quality products at unbeatable prices".

The winning champagne has been "crafted to perfection" using a classic blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier grapes.

The bottle undergoes maturation in cellars, a process that develops its "complexity and length".

As told by Aldi, the champagne offers "aromas of ripe apple, soft red fruit, and delicate florals".

A true fan-favourite tipple, this wasn't the first time the Veuve Monsigny Champagne Brut received an impressive accolade.

Previously securing recognition at several competitions, the champagne has been recognised at the International Wine Challenge, Drinks Business Sparkling, and Champagne Masters.

For those keen to sample the winning wine, Aldi's Veuve Monsigny Champagne Brut (£14.95 for a 75cl bottle) is available nationwide.

But the budget retailer's success extends beyond this single bottle. Aldi has secured more than 180 awards for its beers, wines, and spirits range this year, establishing itself as a major player in the drinks market.

The supermarket hopes that these accolades demonstrate its ability to offer "quality and affordability in the industry" - for those who want to enjoy a tipple that doesn't cost the earth.
