Successful weight loss is rarely the result of quick fixes or trendy diets but rather comes from creating sustainable lifestyle changes.
For many of those shedding pounds, this means cutting carbs and filling up on protein, while others insist that a calorie deficit is the only way.
Among them is Beth Kendra, who lost close to 3st 8lb after adhering to a calorie deficit and regular pilates routine, which provided her with lasting results.
The slimmer explained in a recent TikTok that a mindset shift proved crucial to achieving her body transformation.
“Let’s talk about how I got my stomach from this to this,” she told viewers. “First of all, the most important thing is fat loss.
“I lost weight, I lost over 50lbs. How did I do that? Calorie deficit, that is the only way you can lose weight, in a calorie deficit.”
Beth’s nutritional strategy primarily involved eating real, unprocessed foods and prioritising lean protein, while making sure to get enough fibre.
She also explained that fostering a healthy mental relationship with food helped her keep portions sensible.

“You want to focus on nutrition and diet, with whole foods, high protein, healthy fats, fibre, practising portion control, balance, moderation, healing your relationship with food, and doing a lot of mindset work,” she said.
“No fad diets, it’s all about a change of lifestyle, so that it can be a long-term thing.”
Once she had dropped the weight, Beth discovered strength pilates, which completely transformed her midsection.
“The only other thing that I personally have done is pilates, specifically strength pilates.
“So, with light weights, that is all I’ve done, honestly,” she shared.
“So I’ve lost weight and I’ve started some sort of strength training exercise.
“The thing about pilates is that it focuses so much on core, your core strength, and as somebody who has lost and gained a lot of weight three times.”

Having undergone two cesarean sections, the gym-goer found these exercise methods most effective for rebuilding her abdominal area.
“The thing is that when you do pilates, you are strengthening so many teeny, tiny, stabilising muscles that get missed out a lot in other forms of exercise,” Beth noted. “Almost everything is working your core, and it focuses a lot on breathing.
“I don’t think we realise, generally speaking, how important breathing is to activate and engage your deep core properly.
“Pilates has really taught me how to properly engage my core while doing exercises. I’m not saying it will work for everybody.”
