Weight loss often conjures an image of strenuous gym workouts coupled with extreme calorie restriction, which can put many off the idea altogether. There may be easier ways to achieve results, however.
Brooklynn Basurto (@brooklynn) recently took to TikTok to break down how she shed a significant amount of fat without conforming to common dietary trends.
Detailing her approach in a clip titled ‘My secret to losing 60lb’, she credited calorie banking for allowing her to “enjoy the foods that she loved and going out with friends while still maintaining weight loss”.
According to Brooklynn, this approach was “the smartest thing” she could have done to lose a significant amount of weight in a short amount of time.

The slimmer says calorie banking helped her lose weight rapidly

“Let me tell you, as a girl who used to struggle with binge eating, it completely changed the game for me,” she told viewers.
“Let’s say you’re in a calorie deficit and trying to eat 1,700 calories a day, over seven days, that would be 11,900 calories.
“Essentially, with calorie banking, you’re just eating just a few hundred fewer calories on a few days so you can then eat more calories on other days.”
In other words, the strategic approach allows dieters to save up calories throughout the week so they can enjoy high-calorie treats on specific days.
“Monday through Friday, I would eat in a very low calorie deficit, so then Saturday and Sunday I wouldn’t have to track, and I could eat foods like Chick-fil-A and Taco Bell,” the content creator explained.
“I would go out with friends, and I would have dessert every Saturday and Sunday night, and I wouldn’t have to worry about it.”
While the approach requires keeping track of food intake, it helps by making room for social activities and occasional indulgences without derailing progress.
The main risk, however, is that it may lead to binge eating tendencies in individuals who struggle with self-control. For others, however, it offers temporary relief from the hard work required for calorie restriction.
“Losing weight never felt so easy,” Brooklynn declared. “Now I’m not saying this is the best way to go about losing weight, but it was definitely the easiest for me.
“It gave me freedom, and it didn’t feel like weight loss was consuming my mind.”

“I also saw results so quickly.”
Brooklynn's advice comes as a nutritionist shared her own tips for tackling stubborn belly fat through simple dietary tweaks that could transform the waistline in just a matter of weeks.
Registered dietitian Kimberly Gomer said four key changes directly target belly fat by addressing bloating and insulin resistance.
"Avoid or reduce alcohol - this is one of the most toxic and inflammatory substances," Miss Gomer told GB News. "Just avoid it for two weeks and you will see a big difference in bloat and belly fat."
