Weight loss culture is pervasive in Western countries, with countless content creators using social media platforms to document their journeys.

More often than not, the tips shared in these videos deliver the same message loud and clear: that weight loss is impossible without calorie restriction.

But a TikTok creator has revealed how she shed 15 pounds without resorting to trendy weight-loss drugs or harsh dieting methods.

Amaris (@amarisunofficially), who shares content under the handle @amarisunofficially, achieved her transformation through straightforward daily habits that anyone can adopt.

In a recent clip shared on her account, she stressed that walking at least 10,000 steps is enough to make a difference.

"I'm going to tell you something, and don't be mad at me," Amaris told viewers. "I lost 15 lbs like that at the start of the year."

"It’s not Ozempic, it’s not an extreme calorie deficit, it’s literally walking at least 10,000 steps every single day. So get out of your own way and do what I'm telling you to do, and you'll lose weight."

Despite following a plant-based diet for nine years, Amaris made protein a priority in her meals, stressing that vegans can successfully focus on this crucial nutrient.

“I eat three meals a day, and if I had to snack, or I’m feeling like famished, or I need a little sweet treat, I would have some fruit, usually apples with peanut butter, or hummus with plantain chips," she added.

"And I drink lots of water and I get good sleep.”

The science behind walking for weight loss is straightforward, as it contributes to fat loss by burning calories and increasing the calorie expenditure of heavier individuals.

Health professionals regularly point out that walking builds sustainable exercise routines while being gentle on the body.
