An estimated 21 million car journeys are expected to take place between Thursday, April 2, and Easter Monday

Petrol and diesel car owners travelling around the UK this weekend could be met with issues as filling stations may operate at different hours over the bank holiday weekend.

It comes as motorists deal with soaring petrol and diesel prices, as the conflict in the Middle East rages on and sends the cost of Brent crude oil above $100 (£85).

The latest data from the RAC shows that drivers are paying an average of 153.68p per litre, while diesel car owners are forking out a staggering £1.84.

GB News has rounded up the opening times for petrol stations at the big four supermarkets and some major retailers.

Tesco

The UK's largest supermarket will continue to operate fuel services across the UK, although opening hours will vary by location.

Drivers are able to check opening hours on the Tesco website, where they can also find the times for petrol stations, since they can vary from the main store.

On Good Friday, the majority of large stores across England, Wales and the Isle of Man will be open from 6am until 10pm, while Scotland and Northern Ireland will trade at normal hours.

Most large stores in England, Wales and Northern Ireland will be closed on Easter Sunday, before opening between 8am and 6pm on Easter Monday (Northern Ireland will see large stores open from 8am to 8pm).

Convenience stores will remain open throughout the Easter period for customers to fill up, with motorists advised to check individual stores on the Asda website.

MFG confirmed the purchase of 337 Morrisons petrol stations in April 2024, in addition to 400 associated sites for ultra-rapid electric car charging.

Sainsbury's

Large Sainsbury's stores will be open between 7am and 11pm on Good Friday and Easter Saturday, and 8am-8pm on Easter Monday. All stores in England, Northern Ireland and Wales will shut on Easter Sunday.

Convenience stores will operate at normal trading hours on Good Friday, Easter Saturday and Easter Monday.
