Drivers have been warned to expect delays on a major motorway following a multi-vehicle collision, which has caused traffic to halt.
The M6 southbound has been closed between J11 Laney Green Interchange and J10 Bentley Interchange due to the incident which occurred between J10a Essington Interchange.
Due to the location of this incident, National Highways has also shut the M54 eastbound between J1 Featherstone Interchange (Cannock A460) and the M6.

Due to the Air Ambulance landing on the motorway, northbound traffic has also been held between J10 and J10a.
National Highways has now introduced a diversion route for southbound traffic on the M6, with drivers urged to follow the route marked with a solid diamond symbol on road signs.
The route instructs drivers to exit M6 Junction 11 Southbound and take the fourth exit onto A460 Southbound. From here, drivers should continue on A460 until M54 Junction 1, take the third exit onto M54 Westbound.
Drivers need to continue on M54 Westbound to M54 Junction 2 and exit M54 at Junction 2 Westbound and take the first exit onto A449 Southbound.
Normal road conditions are expected to return by 1pm

Drivers should then continue on A449 Southbound to Wolverhampton Ring Road (East) (Stafford Street Junction). At Stafford Street Junction, turn left onto Wolverhampton Ring Road (East) (A4150, not signed)
Motorists need to continue on Wolverhampton Ring Road (East) (A4150), southbound to Horseley Fields junction. At Horseley Fields junction, turn left onto Horseley Fields, eastbound (signed “(A454)”).
From here, drivers should stay on Horseley Fields, eastbound, to the A454 junction. At the A454, turn left onto the A454, eastbound.Drivers need to continue on the A454, eastbound and southbound, to the A454/A463 interchange (Keyway Roundabout)
At A454/A463 (Keyway Roundabout), turn left (second exit) onto the interchange entry slip road to continue on the A454 by merging with traffic on the A463 northbound.

Continue on the A454, northbound and eastbound, to A454/M6 Junction 10. At A454/M6 Junction 10, take 3rd exit, onto M6, southbound.
National Highways has also put in a diversion Route for M54 eastbound traffic, which has been marked with a solid square symbol on road signs. The route takes drivers off the M54 at Junction 1 Eastbound and urges them to take the fourth exit onto M54 Westbound. Continue on M54 Westbound, to M54 Junction 2 (A449)]
From here, drivers should stay on A449 Southbound to Wolverhampton Ring Road (East) (Stafford Street Junction).
At Stafford Street Junction, turn left onto Wolverhampton Ring Road (East) (A4150, not signed). Continue on Wolverhampton Ring Road (East) (A4150), southbound to Horseley Fields junction.
Drivers have been urged to follow the diversion in place

At Horseley Fields junction, drivers should turn left onto Horseley Fields, eastbound (signed “(A454)”). Continue on Horseley Fields, eastbound, to the A454 junction.
At the A454, drivers should turn left onto the A454, eastbound. Continue on the A454, eastbound and southbound, to the A454/A463 interchange (Keyway Roundabout).
At A454/A463 (Keyway Roundabout), drivers need to turn left (second exit) onto the interchange entry slip road to continue on the A454 by merging with traffic on A463, northbound.
Continue on the A454, northbound and eastbound, to A454/M6 Junction 10. At A454/M6 Junction 10, take 3rd exit, onto M6, southbound. Normal traffic conditions are expected to return between 12:45 and 1pm later today.
