Motorists are being urged to avoid a key section of the motorway this morning after a collision on the M25 caused a fuel spillage.
Three of four lanes between J28 (for the A12, near Brentwood) and J27 (for the M11, near Epping) on the M25 are closed anti-clockwise in Essex.
National Highways has reported that service providers are on the scene to assist with a fuel spillage.
The transport authority added that its Traffic Officers are also on scene to help manage the congestion on the motorway.

Drivers are being warned of long delays following an accident on the M25
NATIONAL HIGHWAYS
There are more than eight miles of congestion on the approach to the accident, with "severe delays" of up to 90 minutes.
Posting on X, formerly known as Twitter, National Highways: East reported that the collision involved a heavy goods vehicle.
It added: "If this closure impacts on your planned route, please allow extra journey time as there is over 8 miles of congestion on approach.
"Plan ahead, you may wish to re-route or even delay your journey."

Traffic maps suggest that motorists may be stuck in traffic for the coming hours, with normal conditions expected to return at 11.30 later this morning.
National Highways has confirmed that all lanes on the M25 have now opened, although delays will likely remain.
It comes just one day after another fuel spillage caused havoc on the M25 for thousands of drivers for most of the day.
The M25, between J6 (Godstone interchange, Surrey) and J5 (Chevening interchange, Kent), was closed for 12 hours after a lorry overturned.
National Highways reported that a tanker was transporting waste before "overturning" and "rupturing", with oil, diesel and waste spilled on the carriageway.
Prior to rush hour, the transport authority said the closure would be "protracted" to ensure an "extensive and complex clean-up" could take place.
It warned that three lanes would be closed overnight to resurface the impacted roads.
The South East Coast Ambulance Service reported that one person had been taken to King's College Hospital in London following the accident.

Meanwhile, Surrey Police reported that a 30-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving without due care.
