Experts have suggested that deliveries of the new electric car could begin next year

Ferrari is set to deliver its first fully electric vehicle to customers in October 2026, the luxury sports car maker has confirmed.

Chief Executive Benedetto Vigna revealed the timeline for the much-anticipated EV, which marks a significant departure for a brand known for its roaring petrol engines.

The unveiling will follow a three-stage process, beginning at Ferrari's capital market day on October 9, 2025. Reports suggest the model could be called the "Elettrica".

At this event, the company will only showcase the "technological heart" of its electric car, rather than the complete vehicle.

The full premiere will take place in spring 2026, with customer deliveries commencing just months later.

"Deliveries ... will commence just months after that, in October 2026," Vigna told analysts during a post-earnings call.

The three-stage unveiling strategy is typical of Ferrari's approach to new models, though one unnamed analyst suggested there might be a slight delay to the original launch plan.

Ferrari typically begins delivering new models about three quarters after their unveiling, Reuters reported.

The luxury carmaker has promised a total of six new models this year, including its first electric vehicle. Despite its electric push, Ferrari still plans to continue offering petrol and hybrid cars alongside its EVs.

"We are very excited about unveiling the Ferrari Elettrica (electric)," Chairman John Elkann told investors at a recent shareholder meeting.

He also reaffirmed the brand's commitment to "all powertrains" despite increasing pressure for car makers to go greener.

The luxury car manufacturer's pledge comes as it prepares for its first electric vehicle launch later this year.

Elkann highlighted Ferrari's long-standing preparation for electrification: "Electrification has been a path that we've been pursuing now for decades, starting in Formula One and then from our race cars to our sports cars."

Hybrid models have already become a significant part of Ferrari's business, accounting for 51 per cent of the company's car sales last year.

The Italian manufacturer began selling hybrid vehicles in 2019, gradually expanding its electrified lineup.

This transition builds on Ferrari's experience with Formula One powertrains, where hybrid technology has been crucial.
