The world's richest man will turn 54 on Saturday, June 28

Elon Musk could find himself at the mercy of protesters at the end of the month as so-called "Tesla Takedown" supporters aim to ruin the controversial billionaire's birthday.

As the CEO of Tesla moves past his public spat with President Donald Trump, Musk will soon face a global uprising of protesters on his 54th birthday later this month.

The Tesla Takedown movement has spread across the world in recent months in response to Musk's work with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and his working relationship alongside President Donald Trump.

He has also faced backlash for his affiliations with right-wing politicians and activists, including Alternative für Deutschland in Germany and his support for far-right activist Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, who goes by the name Tommy Robinson.

On June 28, 2025, protests will take place across the UK and the United States in a bid to protest Musk's actions, as well as those of "unelected, unaccountable billionaire oligarchs who shape our world".

The UK chapter of Tesla Takedown announced that it would be hosting "anti-birthday parties" with "anti-billionaire games" in Bristol, Winchester, Leeds and London.

It said: "Musk's departure [from the White House] is worth celebrating. And so that’s what we’re doing, under the slogan #MuskMustFall.

"Musk's birthday, June 28, will see a global protest party outside Tesla dealerships to recommit to the fight against the unelected, unaccountable billionaire oligarchs who shape our world."

So far, six protests are planned in the United States for June 28, which will take place in Arizona, Maryland, California, Washington D.C, Wisconsin and Ohio.

One of the event pages for a protest taking place in Rockland, Maryland, claims that Elon is "on the ropes", and as the world's richest man, the protesters want to continue their action to put people off from investing in his companies.

They call on people to sell their Tesla vehicles, dump any stock they have in the automotive manufacturer and "stop Musk now".

Another picket, in Georgetown, Washington D.C, is looking to celebrate a "very unmerry Musk birthday", directly citing the South African's claims that he would slash government funding by $2trillion (£1.47trillion).

The protest group states: "Elon thought he would be a king, driven around in a Tesla CyberChariot. Instead, fueled on a cocktail of ketamine, ecstasy, and psychedelic mushrooms, Musk has dragged our country down into a Techno-Sycophant, white supremacist rabbit hole.

"He must be held accountable for the pain and suffering he has caused our country. Since the Trump regime won't, We the People will. Our goal is simple: Musk must fall."

Many of the US-based protests have blamed Musk's role as the former head of DOGE as the main motivation for protesting outside of Tesla dealerships and showrooms.

One estimate from Brooke Nichols, an associate professor of global health at Boston University, suggests that DOGE's cuts to USAID may have caused over 300,000 deaths.

Elon Musk has yet to respond to the upcoming protests on his birthday, although he criticised vandalism that has taken place at dealerships, on individual cars and the Supercharger network.

In March, Musk took aim at "domestic terrorists" who had been targeting Tesla stores and burning Superchargers, even liking a post that compared them to insurrectionists who stormed the White House on January 6.

Many have suggested that the actions of Elon Musk over the last year have contributed to the fall in sales of Tesla, with new registrations down almost eight per cent compared to last year in the UK.

Sales totals across Europe paint a bleaker picture for the billionaire and his electric vehicle brand, with Germany seeing registrations down 36.2 per cent in May, despite sales of EVs rising almost 45 per cent.
