'Those who can get ahead of the future trends will not only secure a cheaper home, but will no doubt benefit from a higher rate of house price growth as a result'
Motorists looking to buy a home could be priced out due to the "sky high" cost of buying a house near public charging stations, which has become a far more popular amenity for Britons.
New research has found that searching for a home within an area offering better access to public and on-street charging points could see drivers pay over £500,000 for the privilege.
Zapmap data shows that there are 66,779 devices around the UK, with a 46 per cent year-on-year increase, and more than 2,000 new devices in July alone.
Analysis revealed that the average house prices across the top 25 UK areas with the most public EV charging devices cost a staggering £507,143.

There are almost 67,000 public chargers across the UK
PAThis rises even further if someone is looking for a home in the top 10 UK areas with the most chargers where the average price can soar to £664,661.
In contrast, the average house price in the 25 areas of the UK with the lowest number of EV charging ports falls to just £265,786 - almost half of the top 25.
Adam Day, head of eXp UK, praised the growth of electric vehicle sales and highlighted their cheaper running costs as a beneficial way for drivers to operate.
However, he noted how the Government's plans to "take a slice of taxation" with the plan to charge electric cars as the minimum level of Vehicle Excise Duty (VED) could impact motorists.
He added: "Of course, they aren’t much use without being able to charge them and we’re seeing an increasing preference from homebuyers when it comes to public EV charging availability in areas they are hoping to purchase.
"Unfortunately, a home in areas boasting the highest number of public EV ports will set you back quite a substantial sum."
Day suggested that drivers could be better off looking at the areas where the number of charging points is on the rise, headlined by the Vale of Glamorgan in Wales.
The area has seen the number of public EV ports climb by 132 per cent since last year, with the average house costing just over £300,000, while Rhondda Cynon Taf has seen a 136 per cent rise alongside average home prices of £157,433.
The best area of the UK could be the Forest of Dean where the number of EV chargers has soared by 459 per cent in the last 12 months. Interested drivers will see average house prices of around £297,000.
Day added: "As more of us look to electric vehicles in the future, this number will only grow further, as is often the case in the property market.
"Those who can get ahead of the future trends will not only secure a cheaper home, but will no doubt benefit from a higher rate of house price growth as a result.”
Industry experts believe that the Government will be able to meet its 2030 goal of having 300,000 public EV chargers around the UK amid a boost in installations in recent years.
