The offer is available until the end of the bank holiday weekend

Drivers can benefit from up to £10,000 worth of parking discounts this bank holiday as motorists look set to hit the road for the long weekend.

With parking flagged as one of the biggest hassles for drivers, carmaker Dacia is offering £20 off parking fees through its partnership with JustPark.

The parking app has over 250,000 bookable spaces across the UK with drivers able to access discounted fees.

Discounts for drivers will be accessible across the bank holiday weekend between Friday, May 3, and Monday, May 6.

It is expected that 21 million people will set off on mini breaks this bank holiday with Dacia recording that over a third (37 per cent) of drivers flagged “parking perils” as a nuisance.

Luke Broad, brand director for Dacia UK, said: “Adventure and focusing on just the essentials is part of our brand’s DNA, so that’s why we want to give back a little and encourage Britons to make the most of the upcoming bank holiday without worrying about the additional cost of parking.

“With the research highlighting parking is a major concern for families when embarking on a trip away, we’re hoping by offering £10,000 worth of parking will alleviate some of that and lend a helping hand so people can spend more quality time with friends and family.”

Jared Rood, partnerships manager at JustPark, added that finding parking on bank holiday weekends can be “especially fraught”.

He explained that by offering free parking spaces, drivers won't have to worry about the "hassle" of finding a space, allowing them to “book their space, park and enjoy their day out".

According to research, Britons spend an average of £11 on parking every week - equating to £572 a year.

The parking offer entitles 500 customers to a discount of up to £20 and applies to JustPark customer accounts on a “first-come-first-serve” basis.

The discount is valid from 00:01 on Friday, May 3, until 23:59 on Monday, May 6 with drivers warned that all fixed-term pre-booked parking sessions must be reserved during this window.

Dacia revealed research that 43 per cent of drivers have anxiety when it comes to costs across a bank holiday, rising to just over half (51 per cent) for those with families.

When queuing for a parking space (22 per cent) stated they “misunderstand” the parking rules and subsequently get fined (15 per cent) leading to more motorists avoiding travel during peak times.

The discounted parking comes as motorists continue to get hit with steep parking fines from councils and private parking companies.

A Freedom of Information request found that drivers were slapped with 33,000 fines a day for parking in 2022.
