The Omoda 4, which was previously known as the Omoda 3, will launch in the UK next year

Chinese brand Omoda has debuted its new high-end vehicle as it looks to accelerate its UK operations, with the vehicle set to launch over the coming months.

At the glitzy Chery User Summit, the automaker debuted its new Omoda 4 model, a bold B-segment SUV crossover, which will launch in the UK in 2026.

Omoda said it was targeting the younger generation and their requirements for a vehicle, with emphasis on "safety, security and space".

As with many new cars released over the last few years, Omoda has highlighted its unique "design philosophy" to entice drivers and set itself apart from the rest of the market.

Omoda is focusing on a "Cyber Mecha" design, which is tipified by angular lines and metallic finishes, and takes inspiration from robotics and sci-fi comics.

The event, which was held at parent company Chery's headquarters in Wuhu, China, showed the new design philosophy with sci-fi characters and even a body-art booth.

The Wuhu-based manufacturer has also prioritised technology, with a screen powered by a 2.5K Snapdragon processor, a sci-fi themed interior and a separate screen behind the steering wheel.

Commenting on the launch and the upcoming UK introduction, UK Country Director Victor Zhang said the brand saw "real promise" in the Omoda 4.

He continued, saying: "This is the first car from Omoda to include the 'Cyber Mecha' thinking, and through the UK feedback, we can co-create together to define the next generation of Omoda vehicles.

"We launched Omoda [in the UK] in August 2024 with a bold vision for the UK market, and the addition of Omoda 4 further underpins our strategy."

Mr Zhang noted that 2026 would also see the introduction of the Omoda 7 in the first quarter of the year, in addition to the Omoda 4.

The Chinese manufacturer said it would confirm powertrain options, sales dates and further information in the run up to its launch next year.

It is expected that the vehicle could be offered with a petrol, hybrid and electric powertrain, and at an affordable price point as Omoda continues to expand across Europe.

The Omoda 4 will, however, be on sale with the same warranty as the Omoda 7. This includes a seven-year/100,000-mile warranty, as well as an eight-year warranty on the battery and RAC Home Start.

Omoda has already made a splash in the UK over the last year, quickly becoming one of the fastest-growing manufacturers on the new vehicle market.

Data from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) shows that Omoda has already sold 14,223 vehicles in the UK so far this year, representing almost one per cent of the total market share.

This is also a staggering 1,162 per cent growth compared to last year when the brand first launched in the UK.

Sister brand Jaecoo has also made an overwhelmingly positive impact across the UK selling 18,170 models, despite being in the country for less than a year.

The Jaecoo 7 in particular has been crowned the best-selling hybrid model in recent months, with 6,489 new registrations last in September, placing in fourth among all vehicles.

Both brands, which operate under the Chery umbrella, have already outsold established, Western brands including Alfa Romeo, Citroen, Lexus, Polestar and Porsche.
