Drivers are being urged to avoid travelling along a popular route this morning as an overturned lorry causes long delays.

The A46 in Nottinghamshire is closed northbound between the A617 (Cattle Market Roundabout, near Newark) and the A1 at Winthorpe because of the accident on the Brownhills Roundabout.

Emergency services, including Nottinghamshire Police, are in attendance, with National Highways contractors providing assistance.

There are long delays along the A46 and the A1, with miles of non-moving traffic near Newark-on-Trent.

  • At the mini roundabout in South Muskham, continue northbound on the B6325 towards the A1
  • Join the A1 southbound and then exit at the A46 junction at Winthorpe to then re-join the A46 northbound
