ITV's This Morning have remained silent for six days following Phillip Schofield's resignation

This Morning have finally resurfaced with a tweet from their official Twitter account - a week after Phillip Schofield quit the show.

The bizarre tweet includes a video of presenters Dermot O'Leary and Alison Hammond talking to LBC radio presenter Tom Swarbrick about making "reservoirs sexy".

The tweet reads: "If there's one person who can make reservoirs sexy, it's @TomSwarbrick1 ... or at least he can try!"

This Morning have remained silent since Phillip Schofield admitted to an affair with a younger male colleague on the show.

Hammond has hosted This Morning alongside O'Leary for the past two weeks after Schofield first announced he was quitting the show, with Holly Willoughby taking a two week break from presenting duties.

The interim presenter broke down on the show while discussing Schofield's latest comments, Hammond said: "I'm just finding it really painful because obviously I loved Phillip Schofield, and it's weird because I still love Phillip Schofield."

Schofield said he has "massive guilt and regret" after revealing the relationship took place while he was still married to wife Stephanie Lowe and before he came out publicly as gay.

Following the revelations, the former presenter said that he is “utterly broken and ashamed” but stressed he did not groom the younger male colleague.

He has also since been dropped by his talent agency YMU and axed as an ambassador for the Prince’s Trust.

It has been confirmed that Holly Willoughby will return as planned on June 5, when she will be joined by relief host Josie Gibson.

Schofield has apologised to his former co-star Willoughby for lying to her about his secret relationship.

He said the pair have broken all contact and revealed it was his paedophile brother’s imprisonment that made her distance herself from the friendship.

“I’ve lost my best friend. I let her down (Holly). I let that entire show down. I let the viewers down," he told The Sun.

“Holly did not know (about the romance). And she was one of the first texts that I sent, to say, ‘I am so, so sorry that I lied to you’."

TV executives, including from ITV, are reportedly expected to appear before MPs on the Culture, Media and Sport Committee next week where the issue of Schofield could be raised.
