Windsor tragically died in February at the age of 44

Strictly Come Dancing star Gorka Marquez has revealed a touching gesture he’s planning with Strictly co-stars to honour the late Robin Windsor.

Windsor, who used to feature as a professional dancer in the BBC show, died unexpectedly in February, with many famous faces since paying tribute.

Fellow Strictly pros Marquez, Graziano Di Prima and Nancy Xu recently reflected on losing their close friend.

In an interview, they explained how they are embarking on a tour with other dancers, and revealed they’d planned a tribute to Windsor, 44.

Speaking on Loose Women, Marquez shared their plan to honour the late dancer’s life in the upcoming Strictly Come Dancing – The Professionals.

“I think we are a family and the loss of Robin who was part of that family... He was just a wonderful person - he was always smiling,” Marquz reflected.

He continued: “I have memories of him smiling when it comes to the show, it was positive things for all of us.”

Di Prima added: “The least we can do is celebrate him because wherever he is up there, he will be dancing with us. I've got beautiful memories of him.

"We did a tour together, we did lifts and stuff and sometimes you're in pain. He would always be the last person to leave the room, even if he was in so much pain.

“Surprisingly enough I did my tour, one of my shirts was his pink shirt and it was written ‘Robin.’

“Every time I was wearing it I had goosebumps. That was a nice, nice memory. I am always thinking of him.”

Ballroom and Latin dance company Burn The Floor, which was co-founded by Windsor, announced the sad news he had died on February 20.

The BBC competition professional appeared on the show from 2010 to 2014 and was partnered with the likes of Patsy Kensit, Anita Dobson, Lisa Riley and Deborah Meaden.

Names from Strictly and the wider entertainment world were quick to pay tribute to the “beautiful human being”.

It was later revealed the star had "gone missing" before tragically being found dead in a London hotel.

Fellow Strictly star and long-term friend Vincent Simone claimed in the days following news of his death that someone close to the dancer had started frantically ringing his friends when he was nowhere to be seen.

Heartbreakingly, they found him too late and the troubled Latin and ballroom star was dead when they got to him. His cause of death hasn't been disclosed to the public.

Simone, who has known Windsor since he was a teenager, explained how devastated he had been left by the sudden death of his friend.
