The former Gogglebox favourite witnessed endless bickering between the three men

Scarlett Moffatt was reduced to tears during Friday's tumultuous I'm A Celebrity live finale, with Declan Donnelly understood to have stepped in to comfort the distressed star.

The pregnant television personality, who revealed last week that she is expecting her second child, became emotional as heated confrontations erupted between campmates on stage.

According to an audience member who witnessed the scenes unfold, Ms Moffatt was deeply affected by the dramatic turn of events during what should have been a celebratory evening.

The source told the Mirror: "Scarlett and Ashley kept saying it was 'disgusting' that things had come to this and were shaking their heads. Scarlett was crying and was consoled by Dec."

The chaos stemmed from former footballer Jimmy Bullard's repeated accusations against eventual winner Adam Thomas.

Mr Bullard, 47, alleged on multiple occasions that Mr Thomas had been "abusive, aggressive and intimidating" towards him during their time in camp.

The accusations prompted a direct challenge from host Ant McPartlin, who disputed the former Fulham player's account of events.

"I was there and I didn't think it was intimidating," Ant stated, before pressing the matter further with his voice rising in pitch as he added: "No, I was there, Jim."

The confrontation arose following an incident where Mr Bullard's decision to quit a Bushtucker Trial nearly jeopardised Mr Thomas's position in the competition.

The actor addressed the situation during the broadcast, stating: "Listen I take full responsibility for my actions. Yes, emotions were definitely running high in that moment."

He added: "That is not how I want to show myself off and I have never shown myself off in that light before that or after that. And I am sorry Jimmy."

Despite his apology, My Bullard and boxed David Haye continued to scold Mr Thomas, even during Sunday's live finale.

Gemma Collins was equally appalled by the scenes, later describing the behaviour of Mr Bullard and Mr Haye as "disgusting" and claiming it left the remaining cast feeling deeply uncomfortable.

The former Towie star walked off set as the arguments intensified, and Ms Collins has since doubled down on her criticism, reposting claims that Mr Haye and Mr Bullard were removed from the live broadcast.

The ordeal may have prompted Ms Moffatt to make a spontaneous decision to escape the country with her loved ones.

On Sunday, the former Gogglebox favourite revealed on Instagram that she had booked a family getaway while travelling back from the capital following the explosive finale.

Sharing a photograph of herself alongside partner Scott Dobinson, their son Jude and her parents aboard the aircraft, she wrote: "Bump's first family holiday. Off we go (booked it yesterday on the train home from London lol)."

The break comes at a particularly significant time for the star, who emotionally announced her pregnancy last week, describing the news as something she thought would "never happen again."

Ms Moffatt had been among the favourites to claim the I'm A Celebrity Legend title before her elimination on Thursday.
