The sighting follows wide-spread concern amongst the singer's fans as he battles health woes

Sir Rod Stewart was spotted in public for the first time since cancelling six of his shows due to illness.

The 80-year-old rocker's heartache was clear when he took to social media earlier in the week to share that he'd be cancelling the shows after rescheduling others previously, and on Sunday he appeared to be continuing to recover as two of his children supported him.

The news once again had fans concerned after the Maggie May hit-maker suffered a similar situation last year when he halted another set of gigs.

This year, Stewart explained he was suffering with the flu and vowed to re-schedule his Caesars Palace performance.

However, on Saturday the singer took to social media again, sharing his devastation at having to pull out of six further gigs.

"I have to cancel and reschedule my next six concerts in June as I continue to recover from the flu," Sir Rod wrote on the social media platform. "So sorry my friends."

The singer expressed his deep disappointment about the postponements, which affect performances planned for the next eight days.

"I'm devastated and sincerely apologise for any inconvenience to my fans. I'll be back on stage and will see you soon," he added, signing off with a broken heart emoji.

Stewart was snapped in pictures obtained by MailOnline heading for dinner at a restaurant over the weekend, accompanied by his pregnant daughter Kimberly, 45 and son Sean, 44.

Despite his current ill-health, the singer smiled as he sported a black velvet jacket, white shirt and a pair of jeans.

After leaving a chauffeur-driver car, Stewart headed in the direction of a swanky eatery with two of his eight children.

The Do Ya Think I'm Sexy? singer is scheduled to perform at Glastonbury Festival later this month, and the appearance follows a string of recent health woes.

Earlier in the year he explained he was taking a vocal rest during his One Last Time Tour and last month he was spotted wearing a sign which read: "Sorry. Cannot talk. Having vocal rest."

On June 2, he cancelled a gig set for that evening before announcing he'd be pulling out of six more.

Fans have long been concerned about the iconic singer's health as well as the possibility of the octogenarian's retirement.

He explained last year he'd be ending "large-scale world tours" after 2025, but made it clear he wasn't ready to fully retire.

"But I have no desire to retire," the social media post read. Stewart also penned: "I love what I do, and I do what I love.

"I'm fit, have a full head of hair, and can run 100 metres in 18 seconds at the jolly old age of [then] 79."

Despite the health setbacks, Stewart remains scheduled to perform at Glastonbury on June 29, where he will take the prestigious tea-time legends slot on the Pyramid Stage.

The performance promises a special reunion with Faces bandmate Ronnie Wood, as revealed during an appearance on That Peter Crouch Podcast.
