A "family member" of Hollywood director Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer is currently being questioned by the police after the pair were found dead at their residence in the Brentwood area of Los Angeles.
Authorities have been treating the case as a suspected double murder following the discovery of their bodies.
The 78-year-old filmmaker and his 68-year-old spouse were found with knife wounds at their mansion on Chadbourne Avenue on Sunday afternoon, according to law enforcement sources.
Emergency services received a call requesting medical assistance shortly after 3:30pm local time. Upon arrival, firefighters contacted police to investigate.

Detectives from the LAPD's Robbery Homicide Division are leading the inquiry.
While a relative is currently being interviewed by investigators, LAPD Deputy Chief Alan Hamilton confirmed at a press conference that no suspect has been identified and nobody is in custody.
A family spokesperson confirmed the deaths in a statement: "It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner.
"We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time."

Former US President Barack Obama paid tribute, saying the couple's "achievements in film and television gave us some of our most cherished stories on screen" and that they "lived lives defined by purpose".
California Governor Gavin Newsom described Mr Reiner as "the big-hearted genius behind so many of the classic stories we love".
Monty Python's Eric Idle revealed he had spoken with Mr Reiner for over an hour the night before the bodies were discovered.
"This is so awful. I shall miss him. A clever, talented and very thoughtful man," Mr Idle wrote on social media.

Mr Reiner carved out an extraordinary career spanning seven decades in the entertainment industry, following his father Carl Reiner into show business.
He first achieved widespread recognition portraying Michael "Meathead" Stivic, the liberal son-in-law to Carroll O'Connor's conservative Archie Bunker in the groundbreaking sitcom All in the Family.
The role earned him two Emmy Awards and five Golden Globe nominations during his eight-year tenure on the programme.
His transition to directing proved equally successful, with the influential 1984 mockumentary This Is Spinal Tap one of his most notable projects.

Mr Reiner's CV also boasted work on Stand By Me, The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally, Misery and A Few Good Men.
He met Ms Singer whilst making When Harry Met Sally in 1989, and the couple married that same year.

A neighbour informed ABC7 that Billy Crystal, who starred in When Harry Met Sally, and Larry David both visited the scene separately.
Mr Crystal reportedly appeared visibly distressed before departing.
