Peter Kay, 52, urged 'get well soon' as he's forced to postpone upcoming comedy gigs after health issue

Beloved comedian Peter Kay has postponed two performances at Nottingham's Motorpoint Arena following a routine kidney stone procedure. The 52-year-old performer will miss his scheduled appearances on October 5 and 6.
SJM Concerts released an official statement on social media announcing the postponement.
"We regret to inform you that due to a routine kidney stone procedure, Peter will be unable to perform his scheduled shows at Nottingham Motorpoint Arena on Sunday, October 5, and Monday, October 6," the statement read.
Medical professionals have advised the Bolton-born entertainer to take time off for recovery. "Following medical advice, Peter will be taking a period of time to rest and recover," the announcement continued.
The affected performances have been rescheduled for December 11 and 12, with Sunday's show moving to Thursday and Monday's performance shifting to Friday. All existing tickets will be honoured for the new dates.
Fans unable to attend the rescheduled performances can obtain refunds through their original purchase point. "We thank you for your patience and understanding," the promoter's statement concluded.
Following the news, Mr Kay's fans rushed to wish the comedian well, including one X user who typed: "Hope you're feeling better soon, and now out of pain, as I know by a friend they're debilitating and agony, go back on tour when you're good."
"Get well soon, Peter, wishing you a speedy recovery x," a second social media user typed while over on Instagram, another echoed: "Get well soon, Peter Xx."
However, there were some who were less sympathetic, including one fan who hit out: "Put them bang in the middle of Xmas do season, makes sense." (sic)
The postponement affects Mr Kay's Better Late Than Never tour, which has been running since December 2022. The comedian is also scheduled to perform at the Nottingham venue on December 19 and 20, as well as in March 2026.
Mr Kay's Better Late Than Never tour has achieved remarkable success since launching in 2022. The comedian has shattered attendance records at Manchester's AO Arena and made history as the first performer to establish a monthly residency at London's O2 Arena.
His O2 residency comprised 45 performances, setting a venue record for most shows by any artist. The tour marks Mr Kay's return to live comedy after a 12-year hiatus, with his previous 2010-2011 tour selling over 1.2 million tickets.
