The 98th Academy Awards ceremony will welcome two major musical performances this Sunday, with songs from KPop Demon Hunters and Sinners taking centre stage at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.

Producers announced on Tuesday that the trio behind the animated film's hit track “Golden” – Ejae, Audrey Nuna and Rei Ami – will perform live at the event hosted by Jonathan Ross.

The Ryan Coogler drama Sinners, which has secured a record-breaking 16 nominations, will also receive a musical tribute featuring star Miles Caton alongside songwriter Raphael Saadiq performing “I Lied to You”.

Both films are competing in the Best Original Song category, with KPop Demon Hunters also nominated for Best Animated Feature.

The KPop Demon Hunters segment promises to be more than a straightforward rendition of the chart-topping song.

According to producers, the performance will open with a blend of traditional Korean musicians and dancers, paying homage to Netflix's animated blockbuster.

The vocal trio, who provide the singing voices for the character Huntr/x, have already taken “Golden” on an extensive promotional tour.

Eric Gales, Shaboozey, Brittany Howard, Christone "Kingfish" Ingram, Bobby Rush and Alice Smith will all join the performance, celebrating the distinctive visual style of Coogler's record-breaking production.

Executive producer and showrunner Raj Kapoor, alongside executive producer Katy Mullan, emphasised the significance of this year's musical segments in an official statement.
