Oscar nominations 2026 in full: Sinners breaks record as list confirmed

The full list was revealed on Thursday

The nominees for the 98th Academy Awards were unveiled today with Ryan Coogler's Sinners emerging as the dominant force after securing an extraordinary 16 nominations across the ceremony's 24 categories.

Danielle Brooks and Lewis Pullman presented the contenders during a live announcement from the Academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater, broadcast across multiple platforms including ABC's Good Morning America and various streaming services.


Sinners collected recognition in virtually every major category, including Best Picture, Best Director for Coogler, and Best Actor for Michael B. Jordan.

The film also earned nominations for Best Supporting Actor (Delroy Lindo), Best Supporting Actress (Wunmi Mosaku), Best Original Screenplay, Best Casting, Best Costume Design, Best Original Song, Best Original Score, Best Editing, Best Production Design, Best Sound, Best Visual Effects, Best Cinematography, and Best Make-up and Hairstyling.

This year's ceremony introduces a new award for Best Casting, marking the first additional category since Best Animated Feature was established in 2002.

Conan O'Brien will return as host for the second consecutive year, following his success in drawing the largest audience in five years at last year's event.

The ceremony takes place on Sunday, 15 March at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, airing live on ABC and streaming on Hulu, with broadcast reaching more than 200 territories worldwide.
