Horticulturist Monty Don has received a warning about editorial guidelines over an incident while filming the BBC's Gardeners' World.
Mr Don, 70, was "reminded" about paid advertising rules after sporting a Barbour jacket on the series while involved with a paid advertising campaign with the brand.
The presenter had been in breach of guidelines by wearing the £300 jacket on the show, and was also spotted in it on the Gardeners' World social media feed.
The broadcaster's guidelines on the subject read: "Presenters or other individuals must not appear on-air wearing clothing or using products or services which they have agreed/been contracted to promote, advertise or endorse or in which they have a specific financial interest."
Monty Don has fronted Gardeners' World since 2003 | INSTAGRAM/MONTY DONA BBC spokesperson told The Mirror: "We have clear guidelines around presenters' commercial activities while working with the BBC, and Monty has been reminded of these guidelines."
The item of clothing was used in Mr Don's promotional content for the company's Way of Life campaign, urging people to "shop the look" worn by the gardening expert.
The advert shows the presenter talking about his love of the outdoors as he wears Barbour's clothing.
The brand shared recently: "Britain’s most legendary gardener, Monty Don, might seem like an unexpected high-fashion muse, but he is the original pioneer of 'allotment-core,' and the perfect anchor for Barbour's spring/summer 2026 collection."
Mr Don isn't the first BBC star to land himself in hot water over advertising clothing in shows.
Ski Sunday presenters Graham Bell and Chemmy Alcott have previously been reminded about guidelines after the pair wore skiwear clothing from Snow Finel, a brand they had been ambassadors for.
In 2024, Gary Lineker sported outfits from his own fashion range during England's opening Euros game.
Animal-loving Mr Don was flooded with support earlier this year after sharing that his beloved dog had died.
