The Vogue singer took to the stage at London's O2 last night for the second show of her Celebration tour

Madonna has sparked a flood of complaints from concert-goers this weekend after thousands flocked to see her kick off the European leg of the Celebration tour at the O2 Arena.

The singer - who has made a recovery since being admitted to intensive care during a health scare earlier this year - performed a two-hour set on Saturday evening and had another gig lined up for the following night.

However, Sunday's performance was brought to an "abrupt" end according to her fans, leaving many disappointed they didn't get to see the full setlist.

The venue's policy is that performances can go on no later than 11pm Monday-Saturday and must end by 10.30pm on Sunday evenings.

On Sunday, instead of starting her gig earlier to comply with the adjusted curfew, Madonna reportedly still took to the stage at 9pm, resulting in a shorter gig.

Therefore, those who purchased tickets for the event missed out on classics such as Like A Virgin, B***h I'm Madonna, Holiday and Celebration.

Soon after the gig, disgruntled fans took to X, formerly known as Twitter to share their frustrations at feeling "short-changed" by the timekeeping of the performance.

"@Madonna please start a bit earlier for your next two @TheO2 shows," one fan fumed. "Cutting the end of your show is short changing your loyal fans!

"We all know you’re a rule breaker, so if you run over break the rules and pay the fine! #MadonnaCelebrationTour."

A second agreed: "It was a good show till they decided to cut it abruptly because @TheO2 has a curfew.

"Simple question: was it so difficult to start 15/20 mins earlier? @madonna @guyoseary this was quite unprofessional and disrespectful #TheCelebrationTour."

Another also raged at the ending: "The UK curfew thing is bulls*** and all but Madonna knew. I mean I love her but why didn't she start earlier or simply pay the fine and finish the show?

"I know she had technical difficulties and all but this only happens to her since the MDNA every other show. Bad press coming..."

Elsewhere, a fourth argued: "They can't be finishing the show abruptly the way they did simply because of lateness. Or Madonna arrives earlier or something has to be done. It's disappointing for all the fans."

A fifth hit out: "I was so gutted that it ended so abruptly!! Absolutely ridiculous!!"

While a sixth simply put: "OK, I feel extremely privileged and grateful to have been able to see Madonna live, but very disappointed she was cut off early.

"She sounded incredible and the stage production was phenomenal, but the abrupt and unexpected end to the show only left us blue-b****d."

Madonna had apologised to fans the night before after a technical glitch took things off-track during the opening date of her European tour.

Whether technical problems played a part in preventing an earlier start on Sunday evening is unknown.

On Saturday evening, she was forced to fill the time for a few minutes while the problem was remedied as she told concert-goers: "This is exactly what you don't want to happen on your opening night, so this wasn't my plan - I'm sorry."
