The former Love Island host and her comedian partner, Iain Stirling, welcomed their second baby last month

Laura Whitmore and her husband, Iain Stirling, have become parents for the second time, revealing the news on social media on Wednesday.

The television presenter, 41, disclosed that their newest addition made an earlier-than-expected entrance into the world during May.

Posting an image of the infant's tiny hand resting against her chest, Ms Whitmore announced: "A new player has entered the game!"

She explained the birth had come with "dramatic flair," adding that she "wouldn't expect anything else" from the surprise early arrival.

The couple, who tied the knot in 2020, had kept the birth private for several weeks before sharing their happy news publicly.

The Irish broadcaster revealed she had meticulously prepared a five-hour playlist for the labour, though circumstances meant she barely scratched the surface of her musical selection.

"I had made a 5-hour birthing playlist this time.. only played about 3 songs - ended up using it post birth," Ms Whitmore wrote, urging her followers: "It's a reaaally good playlist, can somebody please use it." (sic)

Since welcoming the newborn, the presenter has been making the most of the early days of parenthood.

"Been enjoying baby smells, lack of sleep and scrumptious hands and wrists," she shared, describing her time in what she called the "baby bubble."

Mr Stirling, 38, shared his own announcement on social media, posting a photograph of a small cardigan and matching booties emblazoned with "Littlest living legend" on the back.

"Say hello to our newest living legend," the Love Island narrator wrote. "I always wanted someone in the house who would stay up late and watch the World Cup with me. But this feels a little excessive."

Fellow celebrities were quick to offer their well-wishes, with BBC Radio 2 star Zoe Ball commenting: "Ahhh congratulations to you wonderful folk." (sic)

Former Strictly star Amanda Abbington wrote: "So many, many, many congratulations dear Laura!! Hope you are both doing beautifully. Love to you and your gorgeous family."

And singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor added simply: "Ah congratulations."

Meanwhile, the likes of Emily Atack, Kirsty Gallacher, Ashley James, Richard Arnold, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Sian Welby, and Caitriona Balfe all replied with love-heart-laden comments.

The new arrival joins the couple's five-year-old daughter Stevie Ré, who was born in March 2021.

Ms Whitmore first revealed her pregnancy back in February, having concealed her growing bump for months through strategic camera angles and loose-fitting clothing.

Her announcement at the time featured a series of photographs showing how she had hidden the pregnancy, with the caption: "Instagram V Reality - Spoiler: It wasn't just a big meal mama ate.

"She's been cooking away! I'd like to thank stretchy pants and travel sick bags."

The couple are known for keeping their family life intensely private and rarely share images of their eldest child.
