A 911 call connected to the death of Katherine Short, daughter of comedian Martin Short, has been obtained, revealing details of the tragic incident on Monday evening.
During the emergency call, a Los Angeles Fire Department operator informed responding crews that the wound sustained by the 42-year-old was "self-inflicted".
The dispatcher also relayed that an individual who made the report had been present at the Hollywood property but was unable to gain access to the bedroom.
Fire department personnel arrived at the California residence at approximately 6:41 pm on Monday, according to a spokesperson.

They confirmed the response to the Daily Mail whilst declining to name the person involved, citing privacy considerations.
Katherine's death was announced the following day by representatives for her 75-year-old father.
"It is with profound grief that we confirm the passing of Katherine Hartley Short," the family's statement read.
"The Short family is devastated by this loss and asks for privacy at this time."

Police had initially been called to Katherine's Hollywood home at around 7pm on Monday following a welfare check request.
According to the LAPD, a concerned friend had contacted authorities after not hearing from Katherine for more than 24 hours.
Sources say officers who attended the property discovered a note on the door before finding her body inside.

Katherine held qualifications as a licensed clinical social worker, having earned her master's degree from the University of Southern California.
She worked in private practice and was also involved with Bring Change 2 Mind, a mental health charity.
Mr Short and his late wife, Nancy Dolman, adopted Katherine along with her brothers Oliver and Henry.
The couple had been married for three decades when Ms Dolman passed away in 2010 following a battle with ovarian cancer.

His notable screen credits include the cult favourites Three Amigos!, Innerspace, and Father of the Bride.

More recently, the Canadian-born performer has starred alongside Steve Martin and Selena Gomez in the acclaimed mystery comedy-drama Only Murders in the Building.
The 75-year-old has endured significant personal tragedy throughout his life, having been orphaned by the age of 20.
His eldest brother David died in a car accident in 1962, followed by his mother Olive after a cancer battle when Short was 17, and his father two years later from stroke complications.
In his 2014 memoir, Mr Short described losing Nancy as "by far the most awful thing I've been through".
