The former Top Gear star’s farming manager will be back on screens for the latest series of the Amazon Prime hit

Clarkson’s Farm star Kaleb Cooper has hit out and issued a statement after receiving backlash to his “fake” farming career.

In the upcoming series, Clarkson is set to take on his biggest and most ambitious project yet, setting out to buy his pub – The Farmer’s Dog – which ignited his Farm to Fork restaurant vision.

However, the road to becoming a landlord wasn’t exactly straightforward, and with new faces, new livestock and new machinery arriving at the farm, life at Diddly Squat was busier than ever.

After rounding off Season 3 with the Diddly Squat gang toasting a tumultuous year, the series returns a few months later to discover that life on the farm has become rather different.

Cooper embarked on a nationwide tour with a one-man show about farming, Lisa Hogan was away working on another new product line, and Clarkson had been left to run the farm by himself.

Of course, help is soon sorely needed, and the welcome arrival of a new farmhand not only gets the farm ship shape in record time - it also gave Clarkson time to think.

However, whilst discussing the upcoming series, Cooper also touched on the ambitions he has for farming in the upcoming year and hit back at the “fake” farming allegations.

He expressed: “I want to try and grow my farming contracting business. I want to take over the world.

I want to be the biggest contractor there is! I think a lot of people like me who have not come from a farming background get a lot of hate, people saying, ‘Oh, you're just a fake farmer. You've not been born into it’.”

Adding how he thinks he has inspired young people to get into farming, he said: “I think I've inspired a lot of people to go into farming.

“We’ve just got to make sure their jobs are there for them in the future. When I was on tour, the biggest highlight was seeing all the young farmers out there dressed like me, even with perms!”

At the beginning of the series, Cooper is nowhere to be seen due to being on his tour, something that also received backlash.

Touching on how he felt to be away from the farm and his comforts for the first time, Cooper noted: “It was great. It was busy, but in a good way, and there was so much rain we couldn't really do much farming anyway.

It's never ideal to be away, but because of the weather, it was a perfect time to not be on the farm. But I just missed farming. It was quite weird, from doing my day job of being on a farm to then not being on the farm at all.

Luckily, while I was touring around the country, I met loads of different farmers, they’d invite me to come and have a cup of tea on their farms.

So I still managed to speak to a lot of farmers and see how different things are grown, and different tool types and all of this stuff.”

Clarkson also touched on Cooper being away from the farm and what he had learnt during that time, adding: “I did do some of the farming for the first time ever, completely on my own, with Kaleb not being around.

“I had to take care of the pigs on my own. I had to take care of the cows on my own, and I had to get the crops planted on my own.

“It was the first time I was farming without an instructor, and we all know what that's like.”
