Jeremy Clarkson has found himself in the firing line of pro-Palestine supporters after mocking an activist for the cause on X.

The incident occurred after Mr Clarkson, who's no stranger to a social media spat or two, returned to the platform on Wednesday evening after facing questions over the legitimacy of his farming show.

Mr Clarkson has fronted his own farming show, Clarkson's Farm, since 2021, with the programme now firmly cemented as one of Amazon Prime Video's biggest hits.

The premise of the show centres on Mr Clarkson's ineptitude as a novice farmer after he decides to tackle the running of his own Oxfordshire farm, with often hilarious and sobering results.

Clarkson's Farm has been widely applauded for shining a light on the plight of British farmers and the obstacles they are forced to overcome day after day, whether it be at the hands of the weather or governmental red tape.

However, it has also often faced claims of being "set up" or "manufactured" for television viewing.

Despite this, one X account celebrated Mr Clarkson's achievements since starting his own farming show, including making farming "cool", exposing the "insane government bureaucracy destroying British farmers", and getting stuck into the "manual labour" the role requires.

The praise for Mr Clarkson irked a fellow social media user, however. In a now-deleted tweet, the X user in question alleged: "You're an idiot if you think Jeremy Clarkson actually works his farm when the cameras aren't on."

This complaint caught the eye of Mr Clarkson himself, as did the X user's bio on his personal page.

The X user had a number of political preferences and slogans written in his bio, such as "Trans Rights are Human Rights" and "Free Palestine", as well as his preferred pronouns: "He/him."

Mr Clarkson decided to mock X user's political stances, suggesting their activism may be selective. "Why don’t you have Gaza marches when it’s cold and raining?" he asked.

Inevitably, several other pro-Palestine supporters rushed to condemn Mr Clarkson's comments, criticising his decision to use the X user's support of Palestine as a point of ridicule.

"Where the f has this come from? What a ridiculous thing to say. Kids are dying ffs," one person weighed in. (sic)

A second didn't hold back: "Firstly, why are you such a f***ing t**t? Secondly, Gaza marches happened in the rain all the time. Thirdly, you didn’t deny it, did you?"

"Cancelling my subscription. Clarkson's Farm can go to hell, and Clarkson can f*** off to Israel. Outrageous," a third hit out.

Meanwhile, a fourth similarly slammed the former Grand Tour star, branding him a "disgusting human being".

However, the backlash facing Mr Clarkson was far surpassed by his supporters rushing to back the 65-year-old against the criticism.

Several X users waded into the debate to defend the presenter, including one who argued: "I believe Jeremy cares about his farm and works it.

"I also believe he tries to capture that work on camera. So likely yes if he is going to do work, he will do it on camera so that we can watch."

A second slammed the X user's complaint: "Clearly someone is jealous of a British icon in @JeremyClarkson and genuinely thought he was a k**b, but he's a decent bloke and helped farming massively. FACTS."

"It's sad when they don't understand the overall joy of farming life and why people do it," another weighed in.

While Mr Clarkson also received the support of a fourth, who weighed in: "Because it's never been about Palestinians. People like this only started to pretend to care about Gaza when it became fashionable and they realised it could gain them social media clout."

The UK has been witness to dozens of pro-Palestine protests that have taken over cities since the Gaza War began on October 7, 2023.

The Palestine Solidarity Campaign has a number of demonstrations lined up as it continues to protest Israel's occupation of Palestinian territories.
