The fan subsequently shared the encounter on Instagram with the caption "Just wanted a picture chief" accompanied by a sad face emoji.
The incident has divided opinion online, with many rushing to defend the Saltburn star's right to personal space.
"Why are you touching strangers?" one commenter questioned, whilst another wrote: "Secondhand embarrassment and not because of Jacob. Why do you touch unsolicited people on the streets?"
A third penned: "Jacob had every right to react the way he did."

Another suggested the actor had developed an inflated sense of self-importance: "Jacob always gave me the impression of someone arrogant... it seems to me that he thinks he's superior all the time."
The Frankenstein star is currently holidaying in Japan with his alleged girlfriend Kendall Jenner.
Just days before the confrontation, the couple were spotted enjoying a meal together at The Seirinkan, a popular Tokyo establishment known for serving Italian cuisine including Neapolitan-style pizza and pasta, with Beatles music playing in the background.

During their restaurant visit, the pair were seen chatting with staff members.
Ms Jenner was photographed wearing a pale yellow semi-sheer silk suit with her hair pulled back into a ponytail, while Mr Elordi opted for casual attire with a backwards baseball cap.
This is not the first time Mr Elordi has found himself in a tense public exchange.
In December, the actor had a confrontation with a photographer at Paris's Gare du Nord train station whilst accompanied by security guards.
When the photographer declared "Jacob, we love you," Mr Elordi removed an earphone and responded: "You make it really hard for me to live."
After the photographer repeated his affection, the actor replied bluntly: "I don't love you."

"Don't ever tell me what to do," he told the staff member whilst continuing to pose for fan photographs.
