Series 14 was recently confirmed but some fans won't have to wait too long for their next Vera fix

Vera fans have been left delighted by one star’s generous offer to give away the chance for them to visit the set and enjoy a dinner with him.

DC Mark Edwards actor Riley Jones took to social media to announce the special opportunity, which fans of the crime drama have been sent into a frenzy over.

Last week, the actor shared on X: “Hands up who wants to win a Vera set visit and dinner with myself?!

“To be in with a chance just buy one of my signed prints. Your name will be entered into the draw for every print you buy. (They make great presents!) Limited run so don’t miss out!” (sic)

It didn’t take long for viewers of the ITV series to swoop to the comments section to express their excitement.

One enthused: “This would definitely make my birthday and my screenwriting dreams!!!”

Vera fans were pleased to learn the drama will be returning next year

Fans of the show were delighted to find out another series had been confirmed for next year, with no apparent plans for the trench-coat-wearing favourite DI Vera Stanhope (played by Brenda Blethyn) to step away from the role anytime soon.

It was confirmed by ITV the programme would return in 2025, but some were disappointed to learn series 14 would consist of just two episodes.

The most recent series was only formed of three, feature-length instalments, so it isn't unusual for the show to air just a handful of episodes in each series.

The only exception seems to be 2021, with the series being made up of an entire six episodes, leaving fans thrilled.

The new instalments will be filmed in spring, but currently, there is no release date for fans to look forward to.

Having first hit screens back in 2011, the series remains a favourite among crime drama fans and has built up a huge following.

Fans also enjoy keeping up with the cast, so it's not surprising Jones' offer saw a swarm of hopeful fans wanting to take part.
