The American British actor and comedian left her campmates in tears

Ruby Wax has been eliminated from I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! in a result which left viewers stunned and furious.

The 72-year-old comedian became the fifth campmate to depart the Australian jungle during Wednesday night's episode, following Alex Scott, Eddie Kadi, Vogue Williams and Kelly Brook out of the competition.

Social media erupted with disappointment after the announcement, with many fans insisting the presenter had been unfairly denied a spot in the final.

"WHAT THE HELLL??? RUBY WAS ROBBED OF A PLACE IN THE FINAL," one viewer posted on X.

Another declared: "Ruby Wax gone?! I'm raging!"

Others expressed disbelief, with one fan writing: "Either she’s been forced to leave because she cannot do the cyclone, or this voting system is rigged. Everyone has her in the top 3?"

Many also questioned how Ms Wax had been voted out while most of the male campmates remain.

"The people voting for Martin… why? What does he bring to the camp?" one viewer asked, while another pointed out what they believe as "the abysmal men surviving longer than Ruby".

Some even claimed her departure was a result of "sexism" from the voting public. However, others agreed with the elimination.

"It’s me! I am voting for Martin to stay in! Mwah ha ha! And I have zero f****** regrets too!!!!" one viewer wrote. Another added: "Hurrah! Glad she’s gone. I’ve watched her for too many decades."

A third claimed: "The pandering over Ruby Wax is vomit-inducing. Thank goodness she’s out."

Speaking to hosts Ant and Dec after learning of her fate, Ms Wax described her fellow campmates as "family" and expressed genuine sorrow about leaving them behind.

"I can’t believe it. It was fantasy land, suddenly there’s a light. We were just a cluster of loving people," she said.

The star reflected on the intimacy of camp life, joking: "Totally forgot the outside world, we shaved each other, investigated each other’s lower regions. I was checking Lisa’s bowels this morning — doesn’t get any closer."

Ms Wax embraced her role as camp leader with theatrical gusto, viewing herself as royalty among her fellow celebrities.

"I was the queen, how can she be abducted?" she joked, adding that she ruled "through charm" and "when I became leader, they were my servants."

Despite the age gap, the American-British actress and comedian formed an unexpectedly close bond with internet streamer Angry Ginge.

Although many assumed Ginge would gravitate towards rapper Aitch, it was Ruby who struck up an early friendship with the 23-year-old.

"I don’t know why I was drawn to them but we had so much in common, I knew I would be friends with them," she said of Ginge and Aitch.

The streamer appeared devastated when Ms Wax's elimination was announced, with several campmates breaking down in tears.

Ms Wax also developed a special connection with Celebs Go Dating star Tom Read Wilson, describing their conversations by the campfire as "romantic".

"Tom Read Wilson was very romantic, he wooed me and won me," she said fondly.

During her exit interview, Ant and Dec gleefully exposed the truth behind the "milkgate" scandal.

Earlier in the series, Ms Brook, Ginge and Aitch secretly ate extra milk bottle sweets won in a trial, leaving the group believing there were only three when there had been 20.

Ms Wax's shock at discovering the deception was characteristically dramatic.

"I’ll have to punish them when they come out, very badly, I can’t believe it," she declared. She joked that she intended to "whip" the boys involved.

The beloved star backed Ginge to take the crown when asked who she believed would triumph in Sunday’s final.

"He’s the strongest," she insisted, adding that she would "put money" on the streamer winning.

Fans continued to voice frustration online after the episode aired, with many calling Ruby an "icon" who deserved to reach the final.

"Ruby taking up half the remaining broadcast time by walking across the bridge, oh we’ve lost an ICON," one viewer posted. Another simply wrote: "Ruby was meant to be in the final."

The comedian was reunited with her husband Ed Bye at the end of the famous jungle bridge following her elimination.
