The Victoria Sugden star shared the happy news on social media

ITV Emmerdale star Isabel Hodgins has announced the arrival of her first child, a daughter named Georgie Grace Whitehead.

The 32-year-old actress, beloved by viewers for her portrayal of Victoria Sugden, shared the joyful news on Instagram earlier today with a touching video and photographs from the hospital.

The clip shows Isabel bouncing on an exercise ball in the maternity suite before cutting to the sound of her newborn's first cries.

A black and white polaroid image followed, capturing the new mother cradling her baby girl.

Ms Hodgins captioned the heartwarming post: "And then we heard you."

The announcement comes just days after her final scenes as Victoria aired on the Yorkshire-based soap, with the actress having wrapped filming weeks earlier.

Georgie Grace made her entrance into the world on Wednesday, February 11 at 1:02am, weighing a healthy 8lbs 5oz.

The timing proved particularly special for the actress' husband Adam Whitehead, who celebrates his birthday on February 13.

Commenting on his wife's Instagram post, Mr Whitehead wrote: "The best birthday present I could ever imagine."

The couple, who wed in Manchester last summer, announced they were expecting shortly after their nuptials.

Speaking to OK! Magazine about discovering the pregnancy, Isabel recalled how Adam was actually the one who spotted the positive result after she had thrown the test on the floor face down.

"Mr Impatient comes along to look at it and sees that it's positive," she joked at the time.

Laura Norton, who plays Kerry Wyatt, expressed her delight, saying: "Best ever. So happy for the 3 of you."

Former cast member Paula Lane, who departed the show last year after playing Ella Forster, also sent her well wishes with a simple: "Congratulations xxx."

Bradley Riches, who plays Lewis Barton, kept his message brief but affectionate: "Love you! Xxxx."

Isabel's departure from Emmerdale marks a temporary pause in a remarkable two-decade tenure with the ITV programme.

The actress first stepped into the role of Victoria Sugden in 2006, taking over from Hannah Midgley, and has been central to numerous major storylines throughout her time in the Dales.

Her character's exit storyline saw Victoria flee to Portugal with her son Harry to stay with Diane Sugden, following dramatic events that included killing her brother John Sugden in self-defence.
