The achievement sparked an outpouring of admiration from viewers who took to social media to celebrate his intellectual prowess.

The decisive moment arrived when the final question appeared on screen: "In the opening verse to the original version of Three Lions, what TWO words feature exactly three times in the lyrics?"

The programme displayed the famous lyrics to assist the remaining contestants. The verse begins with "Everyone seems to know the score" and continues through to "cause I remember."

Whilst Griffith managed only a partial answer, Carlisle demonstrated his analytical skills by correctly identifying both words.

He pinpointed that "it" and "know" each appear precisely three times within the opening verse.

This astute observation secured the full £100,000 prize for Unicef, with his competitor unable to match his accuracy.
