Holly Willoughby will return to co-host Dancing on Ice shortly after arriving back on the This Morning sofa.

There had been speculation about whether the 42-year-old would return to the ITV show following the scandal which engulfed the broadcaster surrounding Phillip Schofield.

Schofield, 61, was forced to quit ITV after he confessed to having an affair with a younger This Morning colleague.

However, despite the debacle, Willoughby now looks likely to return to Dancing on Ice.

A source said: "There have been all kinds of rumours that she is to leave but she loves the programme and has a long history with it.

"Holly wants to stay on at Dancing On Ice.

“She's made that clear to all concerned and everyone at the network is absolutely delighted."

They told MailOnline: “They haven't discussed contracts yet, as that will take place after the summer as always, but she's indicated it will be business as usual.

"She will have a say in her new co-host, not the final decision, but Holly will be consulted."

Ex-Loose Women star Jane McDonald, 60, has been tipped to fill the gap left by Schofield.

She impressed during her stand-in appearance at the British Soap Awards.

Schofield had hosted the coveted awards ceremony for 16 years but has fled to Cornwall following his departure from ITV.

It also remains to be seen who will fill Schofield’s shoes on This Morning.

Willoughby, who returned to ITV’s flagship daytime show earlier this month, has been joined by a number of temporary co-hosts.

Josie Gibson, Dermot O’Leary and Craig Doyle have all shared the This Morning sofa with the mother-of-three.

Willoughby is currently putting the drama behind her by enjoying the music at Glastonbury in Somerset.
