Emma Watson has made a U-turn on her stance towards Harry Potter author JK Rowling.
The actress, 35, portrayed Hermione Granger in the franchise from 2001 to 2011, and in the last few years has publicly criticised Ms Rowling and her views on the trans debate.
Ms Watson, along with Harry Potter and Ron Weasley actors Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint, have slammed the author and taken several public opportunities to oppose her views and distance themselves from her.
Now, though, Ms Watson has insisted she "treasures" Ms Rowling despite their differing views.
JK Rowling has faced a huge backlash for her views on the trans debate
| PAThe switch-up comes after Ms Rowling stated she would never "forgive" Ms Watson and Mr Radcliffe for their commentary towards her and what she deemed as eroding of women's "hard-won rights".
During an interview this week on Jay Shetty's On Purpose podcast, the actress explained she believes she can still value the author while opposing her beliefs, marking a change from her usual tone towards Ms Rowling.
"I really don't believe that by having had that experience and holding the love and support and views that I have, means that I can't and don't treasure Jo and the person that I had personal experiences with.
"I will never believe that one negates the other, and that my experience of that person, I don't get to keep and cherish, to come back to our earlier thing. Like, I just don't think these things are either or.

"I think it's my deepest wish that I hope people who don't agree with my opinion will love me, and I hope I can keep loving people who I don't necessarily share the same opinion with."
The controversy surrounding Ms Rowling came from her views published in the Cass reports into gender treatment in the UK, which suggested changes be made to how young people are advised on the subject, and for puberty blockers to no longer be prescribed.
Elsewhere in the interview, Ms Watson, who stated she had stepped away from acting, confessed to being left "broken" by Hollywood.
"I was coming to those sets with an expectation that I think I had developed on Harry Potter, which was that we were, the people I worked with were going to be my family, and that we were going to be lifelong friends.
"'I came to work looking for friendship, and that was a very painful experience for me.
"Outside of Harry Potter and in Hollywood, like, bone breaking, really painful, because most people don't come to those environments looking for friendships.
"They're looking for, 'this is my chance, this is my role, this is what I want out of it - I'm focused, this is my job, this is my career. Like, let's go.'
"And I was not of that mindset. And so I found the rejection really painful.

The actress went on to blame her spotlight lifestyle for her six-month driving ban, which she received in July.
The actress had been speeding in a 30 mph zone in an area in Oxford, and commented she had found it "humbling" to come to the realisation she can't do "basic life things".
