Aaron Taylor-Johnson is expected to be the next James Bond

GB News presenter Eamonn Holmes has reminisced on his "close personal friend" Roger Moore who he described as an "amazing, divine human being."

Recent reports have revealed that Aaron Taylor-Johnson is set to be the next James Bond and discussing the actors that have taken on the iconic role, Eamonn revealed his favourite.


The Breakfast host said: "Roger was my Bond, I mean Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan were superb. The thing why it was Roger with me is because Roger became a personal friend.

"It was the most amazing thing that a man who I'd seen as Ivanhoe, as the Protectors and as James Bond.

"Then he became a personal friend and he was a lovely, divine, gorgeous man.

"I was at his funeral and there were a hundred people there, and it was just a privilege to be there.

"I have a doll at home, an Action man type doll, of Roger Moore in the outfit from Live and Let Die."

Former 007 actor Pierce Brosnan gave a glowing endorsement of Taylor-Johnson after being quizzed on the rumours.

George Lazenby, another former leading star of the franchise, has also backed Sam Taylor-Johnson's husband to succeed in the role.

According to The Sun, a source revealed: "Bond is Aaron’s job, should he wish to accept it. The formal offer is on the table and they are waiting to hear back."

"As far as Eon is concerned, Aaron is going to sign his contract in the coming days and they can start preparing for the big announcement."

Former Bond girl Madeline Smith has also backed the star and argued the actor has a quality Roger Moore "did not have."

She told Martin Daubney on GB News: "I think he is a beautiful looking man. He has something dear Roger Moore did not have.

"He has an air of danger. He has that narrow-eyed look.

"The thing is about darling Roger, he didn’t want confrontation in real life or indeed in film.

"I think that is maybe one tiny element against his Bond.

"He had such a pleasant face and a pleasant personality. I think this guy looks like he could be trouble. Bond needs to have that edge, which Sean [Connery] had."
