Eamonn said: “Now, it may have been born in the 80s, but it's been described as the hairstyle of 2023. What is it? It is the modern mullet and it's making a comeback.”

He noted that actors such as Paul Mescal and Austin Butler have also adopted the look.

Eamonn poked fun at the revival of the hairstyle, showing a photo of himself in the 80s when he had grown out his locks and adopted the cut.

Looking at the picture, he said: “I would say that’s about ’83, ’84. I was probably about 24 or so at the time. But yeah, there's a lot of hair there!

“Whatever we may have had in the past, it's just but a dream now. I couldn't grow a mullet now if I tried!”

Eamonn reflected on what inspired him to grow a mullet in the first place, he said: “When you look at glam rock in the 70s for instance. The mullet would have been more into the 80s and popularised by footballers.

“But the hair a lot of us had as men, was more like a woman’s hair and had to be dealt with accordingly.”

He went on to joke that he may go in the opposite direction and shave all of his hair off.

He asked Paul Edmonds: “Do you know what I've never done and had and I've always wondered, should I shave my hair? Every man at my age, right has got got really closely cropped, probably.

“I mean, ever since I've been. I've been on TV since it was 19 and I've basically had the same hairstyle, more or less ever since. Do you think I should go for the shaved head?”

Paul responded: “Look, not shaved head, but it suits you being shorter through the sides.

Eamonn responded: “My kids said ‘dad, you're better off when you go short round the sides’, whereas I think that it's better off more fulsome round the side!”
