Singer Dua Lipa slams 'obnoxious' Britpop bands like Blur and Oasis as she blasts 'toxicity' around groups

Britpop legends such as Blur's Damon Albarn and Oasis icon Noel Gallagher have come under fire from current chart sensation, Dua Lipa.
The singer, whose songs include Dance The Night from the Barbie movie and toe-tapper One Kiss, had acknowledged the musical influence bands in the Britpop era have had on herself as well as other artists.
However, she was less than impressed with the behaviour of certain artists towards their female counterparts at the time.
Dua Lipa said of Albarn and Gallagher: "I haven’t had any encounters with them, actually.
"Sometimes you have to separate the art from the person… It’s more like the music element, the aspect of it that I’m really connected to."
She continued: "The way that [some Brit-pop artists] acted, the things that they’ve done, they’re obnoxious for sure. That’s their whole thing."

Hitting out at the environment which harboured such conduct from Britpop stars, the singer added to Rolling Stone: "There’s so much toxicity in the way people wanted their artists or their musicians (that) if they weren’t like that, they would’ve been seen as boring...
"I think that’s such a bad way to see things."
Decades on from the '90s, both Gallagher and Albarn have hit headlines in the past few years for their takes on female singers currently lighting up the charts.
Back in July, Gallagher unleashed a no-holds-barred take on Adele when he was quizzed on whether or not he was a fan.

"F**k off, f*****g hell," Gallagher replied when asked if he was a listener of Adele's songs during a podcast appearance. "Name one?"
"They’re f*****g s**t It’s f*****g awful. It’s f*****g Cilla Black. I find it and that whole thing offensive."
Elsewhere, Blur frontman Albarn received the wrath of Gen Z on social media when he said in an interview that Taylor Swift for did "not write her own songs".
Swift called Albarn out for his remarks and posted on X, formerly Twitter: "@DamonAlbarn I was such a big fan of yours until I saw this. I write ALL of my own songs.

Among the thousands of replies Swift garnered for the post was Albarn himself who apologised for a miscommunication.
The Blur star apologised and said: "I totally agree with you. I had a conversation about songwriting and sadly it was reduced to clickbait.
"I apologise unreservedly and unconditionally. The last thing I would want to do is discredit your songwriting. I hope you understand. - Damon." (sic)
Britpop was a genre that dominated the charts throughout the 1990s with Oasis and Blur very much spearheading the movement alongside fellow acts like Suede and Pulp.
