Dennis Quaid has accused Hollywood of operating a "double standard" when it comes to expressing support for President Donald Trump.

The 71-year-old actor told Fox News Digital: "There's either 'F Trump' from the other side or 'I love Trump' from a few of us who speak about it."

Mr Quaid, whose new science fiction film War Machine is currently streaming on Netflix, suggested this inconsistency extends beyond the entertainment industry.

"Of course, there's a double standard, but there's a double standard on everything," he stated. "You've got common sense, and then you've got like some kind of whipped-up scenario where, you know, it might be true, you know, that I could compete in women's sports or, you know, that I could, whatever, vote twice or whatever it is."

The actor recently experienced a flight aboard Air Force One, which he likened to "fantasy camp."

"It was pretty amazing," Mr Quaid remarked. "There's everything you really kind of thought it would be."

He described encountering a room reminiscent of scenes from action films, complete with military personnel monitoring radar equipment.

"With the military guys, they're at their radar screens or whatever. The nuclear football's just sitting there, and it was something else," he explained.

The Parent Trap star noted that the aircraft felt somewhat dated, comparing it to stepping back into the 1990s, although he pointed out it appeared well-maintained, albeit technologically behind the times.

"We've got to get him a new one," Mr Quaid suggested, adding that his own Bonanza aircraft seemed to have more modern technology.

Mr Quaid also revealed that he was present with the president shortly before the United States launched coordinated military strikes against Iran last month.

The actor recalled Trump discussing the situation, saying: "What are we going to do about Iran, you know?"

According to Mr Quaid, the president was reluctant to proceed with military action.

"He didn't want to do it. And you could tell that it weighed heavy on his heart, because he knew sending any of our service people into harm's way, it's probably the biggest, hardest decision that I think the President of the United States could make," Mr Quaid said.

Despite the gravity of the moment, Mr Quaid praised President Trump's composure, noting: "He had quite a poker face at the same time because he wasn't really giving anything away, but you could feel his heart."

Mr Quaid's vocal support for Trump has not gone without criticism from former colleagues.

Lauren Holly, who appeared alongside Mr Quaid in the 1999 American football drama Any Given Sunday, responded to footage of the actor aboard Air Force One with a pointed remark.

"At least I got to slap him real hard in Any Given Sunday," Ms Holly commented on the video.

The actor has been an increasingly visible Trump supporter, having appeared at a campaign rally during the 2024 presidential election. At a February event in Corpus Christi, Texas, Mr Quaid declared publicly: "I love Donald Trump!"

He has also described the president as "surprisingly approachable," "very funny," and "really genuine" during an appearance on The Greg Laurie Show last month.
