A close pal of David Beckham's has spoken out after Brooklyn Beckham and his wife Nicola Peltz fuelled rumours of a family rift following their notable absences from the former footballer's recent 50th birthday celebrations.
The 26-year-old eldest son of David and Victoria Beckham missed all three of his father's birthday events, including an intimate family dinner at their Cotswolds estate, a trip to France and a star-studded London dinner.
The snub is said to have left David "heartbroken" as family tensions reach new heights, although the 50-year-old did send a heartfelt message to his eldest son via Instagram over the weekend.
Elsewhere, the former Manchester United star shared photos on Instagram from a family-centred celebration that included Victoria and their other three children - Romeo, Cruz and Harper Seven. A black-tie dinner followed, attended by celebrities including Eva Longoria and Gordon Ramsay.
Brooklyn Beckham and his wife Nicola Peltz have been notably absent from family events of late
GETTYDespite initially telling family they would attend, Brooklyn and Nicola reportedly flew from Los Angeles to London but then decided to skip the A-list dinner on Saturday.
This wasn't the first family event the couple missed - they were also absent from another party for David in Miami last month.
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:
Now, a friend of David's has suggested the family rift won't be permanent. Hairdresser Adee Phelan hinted that the feud, if legitimate, would soon be mended.
"Blood is thicker than water," he said. "You've only got to look at Oasis. That is a perfect example of falling out of touch, becoming very distant, but the love and blood always comes through in the end."
He added: "[For David] it's his first born, it will come around again. There is too much love for it not to. I can't see the feud lasting."
Phelan added that his experience working with David led him to believe "he is close and loving to that boy".
The comments to the Daily Mail offer hope that the Beckham family might eventually reconcile despite current tensions.
However, reports suggest Brooklyn had given his family an ultimatum, requesting a private meeting with David rather than attending celebrations alongside Romeo's girlfriend, Kim Turnbull.
Conflicting accounts have emerged about who is responsible for the family division. The couple allegedly "have a problem with" Turnbull, with Brooklyn and Nicola believed to be questioning her motives for dating his younger brother.
Brooklyn and Kim used to socialise in similar friendship circles as teenagers and developed a close bond, although his youngest brother, Cruz, spoke out to deny rumours that the duo dated before she pursued a relationship with Romeo.
However, there have also been claims that Nicola has a pattern of starting arguments before family events, resulting in Brooklyn's absence.
Rumours of a rift between the Beckhams have circulated since Brooklyn and Nicola's lavish wedding in 2022. Speculation initially centred around Nicola not wearing a Victoria Beckham-designed wedding dress for the ceremony.
Nicola later told Variety: "I was going to and I really wanted to, and then a few months down the line, she realised that her atelier couldn't do it, so then I had to pick another dress."
She added: "She didn't say you can't wear it; I didn't say I didn't want to wear it. That's where it started, and then they ran with that."

Despite the current alleged tensions, sources claim David and Victoria would "love to heal" the rift with their son.
An insider has claimed that the couple are "done" with Nicola but would "do anything" to reconcile with Brooklyn.
"It has become a problem and not something they can keep private because of the way the family uses social media," a source told the Mirror.
"Things have escalated in recent months, and there is a very obvious rift." The relationship is reportedly "not beyond repair" with another source telling People: "They love and are always there for him. They're just hurt and disappointed."
