The former rugby legend issued a heartfelt goodbye

Chris Robshaw has shared a heartfelt statement after being eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing on Sunday.

The former England rugby star became the third to leave the show alongside his professional dancer, Nadiya Bychkova.

The pair faced the dreaded dance-off with Balvinda Sopal and her dance partner Julian Callion.

The situation became tense as the judges were divided of who to keep in the competition, with Shirley Ballas and Anton Du Beke opting to save Mr Robshaw and Motsi Mabuse and Craig Revel Horwood, who had the deciding vote, saving Ms Sopal.

After a graceful and poignant exit speech, in which he thanked his partner, the former sportsman took to social media after Sunday’s show to share another tribute about his stint on the show.

In a lengthy Instagram post, he began: “My @bbcstrictly chapter unfortunately comes to an end.

“I want to say a massive thank you to my partner @nadiyabychkova, when we first started the show I had no confidence on the dance floor, sleepless nights before shows and massive doubts in my ability.

“You made the whole experience fun, challenging and rewarding.

“For last night’s show I couldn’t wait to be on the dance floor and show everyone what we had been working on.

“We opened the 2025 series with a Samba and a set of 3s, to last night risking it all with daring lifts, a pair of 7s and loving the salsa.”

The 39-year-old expressed guilt as he continued: “Am sorry we couldn’t go further but am thrilled we jumped in every session and went all in every show, finishing with our highest score and some moves which hadn’t been seen together on the strictly floor.

“My incredible wife @camillakerslake thank you for giving me the support and belief to give everything to this challenge. Especially loved seeing the reactions on your face post my dances.

“The other pros and contestants I’ve loved being on this journey with you all.

“My sis @vickypattison what a pleasure it’s been, next time we dance together. Am also glad I don’t need to stand next to @aikines topless anymore.

“Thank you to Jasmine and all who make the show great and what it is.

“A special thanks to the hair/make up team as well at the costume department, you guys are world class and my wardrobe looks a bit dull now.”

Concluding, he added: “For those who voted to keep us in, thank you so much we loved the opportunity to show you how hard we’d been working and trying to improve.

“The dancing shoes are definitely not being hung up, maybe just put in the cupboard for a rest.

“Thank you for all the support through out the series I’ve loved it.

"We all need to step out our comfort zone at times, I’ve grown to love it; give it a go, you’ve got this.”
