Actor and broadcaster Narinder Kaur is still unhappy with the casting decision

Narinder Kaur has unleashed yet another attack on The Apprentice star Thomas Skinner following his unveiling as a Strictly Come Dancing contestant.

The news was announced last week, and it quickly became the series' most talked-about appointment thanks to opposition to Skinner's political opinions and social media activity.

The 34-year-old businessman, whose social media presence has attracted over 400,000 followers, has become a controversial figure due to his political commentary and recent friendship with US Vice President JD Vance.

Kaur was one particularly vocal opponent to the appointment, thanks to the fact that - she claims - she was rejected by show bosses for being "too controversial".

Speaking alongside Charlie Rowley on Channel 5's Jeremy Vine on Tuesday, Kaur doubled down on her criticism of the appointment, despite Skinner having reached out to her on social media to clear the air.

"You had some issues with Thomas Skinner, who's now part of the Strictly line-up. Why did his inclusion upset you?" stand-in host Alexis Conran asked Kaur.

"It upset me and it upset me quite a lot actually," she replied. "I've wanted to do Strictly and I've approached them, the last time I approached them was about January or February...

"They said, 'Well, we like you, but you're a little too controversial'. Now, I can accept that, although I don't know why I'm controversial when I stand up (against) racism, I accepted it.

"So when they announced Thomas Skinner, I'm like, 'Hang on a minute!' I'm a little bit too much, I'm a little bit controversial, but you get someone like Thomas Skinner who's got a criminal record - yes, it was years ago, but still.

"He's on the online right, he's a proud patriot, so why was I too controversial and he's okay? I don't like it, I don't accept it."

Conran then read aloud Skinner's response to Kaur's criticism on X, in which he wished her well and a happy life.

"He did his usual sweet talking," Kaur dismissively replied. "He just said I regret my past, it's spent, I have got a criminal past, but those days are gone and I wish everyone well, I wish you nothing but peace and happiness - Ha! You see, you can't fight that, but it's just so fake."

"Hang on!" Conran attempted to cut in to defend Skinner, but Kaur was undeterred. "He's a fake! He pretends to be this working-class lad," she argued.

Conran cut in: "Why can't you accept his genuine words? He's saying I hope I haven't upset you, I hope you aren't offended. What's wrong with that?"

Kaur explained: "The last time I'd done a debate with him, it was all about the flags and that gets everybody worked up, all of his fans trolled me with the most vicious racist -"

"That's not him, though!" Conran pointed out, prompting Kaur to add: "No, but he could've put something out to say I like Narinder, she came to support me at my book launch, she's a mate... can you not pick on Narinder, she's alright. He stayed silent.

"I don't trust him. That's a different thing. My main thing is I think the BBC Strictly producers, I'm sorry, you're hypocrites. You want to put brown and black women in a little box; we can only have safe brown and black women.

"But if you're a white man, you can be whatever you want, have whatever past, and you'll be allowed to be a contestant. I think it's hypocritical and I don't buy it."

Kaur's anger towards Skinner didn't exactly sit well with Channel 5 viewers, many of whom took to social media to react to her opinion of the Apprentice star.

"Who is she? What a pillock! Sick to death of hearing the race card for absolutely everything," one Instagram user fumed.

The complaints continued on X. "They didn’t want you Narinder, because you don’t stand up to racism, you actively promote it," a second claimed. "I have never seen anyone race-bait as much as you & shout how anglophobic you are! The tide is turning on divisive rhetoric like yours."

A third echoed: "SCD producers were just being nice in their rejection; the real reason is because you're a vile race-baiting grifter."

"He doesn't owe her anything," a fourth argued. "Her sense of self-entitlement is off the scale. She has used his past against him at every opportunity, attempted to shame him & discredit him simply because she didn't get chosen for a TV show. Get over yourself."

Meanwhile, a fifth X user fumed: "She's so deluded. Thomas is a normal, patriotic family man who works hard and loves his country. Bosh." (sic)

However, some did find themselves siding with Kaur's stance. "She's absolutely right," one Instagram user said, while a second agreed: "Well done Narinder for calling out racism for what it actually is."

Skinner addressed the backlash from Kaur and others on Monday, thanking supporters for their "overwhelming" messages whilst addressing his detractors.

The Romford-born television personality claimed that "helmet haters" who had spent the previous week "spreading lies" had inadvertently boosted his social media metrics.

"Look at the analytics for the last 7 days.... They are insane!" he posted on X/Twitter, where he monetises his account with proceeds going to a local children's charity.

The businessman remained defiant about his background, declaring: "I love my family, i works hard, and I'm proud of where I come from. I love my country and I'll never stop flying the flag no matter what anyone says."

He emphasised he would "always be proud" of his roots and would continue backing "the people" despite the controversy. (sic)
