Jeremy Vine regular Carole Malone found herself embroiled in a rather heated exchange with fellow guest Phil Jones, as well as one particularly irked Channel 5 viewer on Wednesday morning.
Ms Malone joined Mr Vine on his eponymous talk show to discuss the latest political developments, specifically Reform UK's Nigel Farage, after a new poll showed him surging in popularity past Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer.
With Labour slumping to an all-time low in the polls, Mr Vine put to Mr Jones and Ms Malone whether they agreed with the findings and also preferred the Reform UK leader to the man in Number 10.
During his answer, Mr Jones pulled no punches: "I find Farage pretty odious. This is a man who hates everything most people in this country value.

"Sure, about 30 percent might like him — but the majority don’t. He’s against the things we love about Britain: our tolerance, our sense of fair play, the National Health Service — which he wants to privatise — and the BBC — which he’d scrap.
"He tolerates racists, and he opposes the very values British people are proud of. He idolises Trump, he used to work for Putin, and he was paid by Russian TV. So he’s not even particularly patriotic."
Ms Malone couldn't bite her tongue any longer: "How can you say he worked for Putin? That’s a silly thing to say — it’s not true.
"Everything you’ve just said completely ignores what the polls show. You’re claiming people don’t like him, but clearly they do. He’s now the frontman."

As the pair began yelling whether or not it was a minority or majority of people who wanted to see Mr Farage in power, Ms Malone added: "He’s completely ahead of Starmer — ahead of everyone. He’s not just ahead of Labour, he’s ahead of every other party leader right now."
Mr Vine interjected to argue: "But isn’t there a danger it’s just a one-man band? His whole party depends on him. If he keels over, that’s it for Reform."
Ms Malone agreed somewhat: "There is that danger, yes. But to make a more serious point, Reform has now positioned itself as the party of the working class. It has filled the gap Labour was supposed to fill when it won the election.
"Look at the Red Wall: those areas went back to Labour after the election, but now they’re shifting to Reform because they don’t trust Labour anymore. And Starmer knows it.

"Starmer and Labour are terrified of Farage. You can see it — Farage lives rent-free in Starmer’s head. Every time Starmer gives a speech, he brings up Farage. In his conference speech, he talked about him constantly, saying, 'You can’t trust Farage.' But doesn’t he get it?
"It’s Starmer we can’t trust. He’s the one people don’t believe anymore."
Mr Vine then weighed back in: "But take this thing with his MP, Sarah Pochin — she made a racist comment saying, 'I get furious when I see so many black people in adverts.'"
"She never said that," Ms Malone interjected. Mr Vine went on to clarify: "She makes this comment, she says I really get cross when I see lots of black faces on adverts.

"Farage says it's ugly but it's not racist, Starmer thinks I've got a way in here to batter Farage, and he says that was racist and Farage won't call it out. Now, where do your sympathies lie there?"
Ms Malone fired back: "I'll tell you where my sympathies lie. I look at a Labour Party, where we have a punishing Budget coming up, the country is in chaos, financially we're in chaos, immigration is out of control, and Starmer wheels his whole cabinet out on the day the Pochin thing happens, and they're talking about her choice of words to describe a situation on television that is factually correct.
"That's the racist bit, Carole, that's the racist bit," Mr Jones cut in, to which Ms Malone argued: "That's not the racist bit. What you're forgetting is that Sarah Pochin was on a radio show, she was reacting to a punter who asked her -"
Mr Jones interrupted: "What about Lucy Connolly, who was cheered to the rafts - who wanted people burnt alive in asylum hotels - and welcomed by Farage to their conference. That's racist."

Nigel Farage
| PAMs Malone hit back: "You can say what you like, the bottom line is this country is going to Farage because every other party has gone under."
Soon after, Ms Malone faced more opposition to her backing of Mr Farage from caller Lisa, a British-American living in Manchester.
"I just have to say — the similarities between Farage and [Donald] Trump are striking," the Channel 5 viewer said over the phone line: "And that lady on your show — she really needs to get in touch with reality. She’s got a lot of anger."
Ms Malone slapped away Lisa's complaints: "Lisa, you’re right, I do have a lot of anger — but I’m perfectly in touch with reality.
"And I don’t know how long you’ve been in this country or how much you know about Nigel Farage, but I’ve been watching him for a very long time."
Lisa argued: "Yeah, we have too — we’ve been following him for a while. Can I just say something? Look, it’s a dangerous situation when people get drawn in by characters like this. For me, all politicians — every single one — are in it for the money. That’s the bottom line.
"People should be elected from the community — say you’ve got a pastor who’s doing real good: youth programs, education, helping people. That’s the kind of person who should be in politics. But they never get elected. So when it comes to regular folks like me — and I’m not the only one who feels this way — I just don’t trust politicians. They’re in it for themselves."
Ms Malone mocked Lisa's assessment, quickly annihilating her argument: "So she not only hates Farage, actually, it sounds like she hates all politicians! She thinks they’re all rubbish."

Turning her attention to the wider issue: "But can I say something about Farage? The reason he’s so popular in this country is because of that old cliché — which politician would you want to go down to the pub with for a pint?
"And for a lot of people, Farage is that man. Farage and his party have become, in many ways, the party of the working class."
Mr Vine weighed back in as he mocked: "He’s a populist, that’s what he is. By the way, while you’ve been talking, his party’s actually gone to the left of Labour. They’re not cancelling welfare cuts, they’re saying yes to everything. How is Reform so left-wing?"
Ms Malone once again batted away the argument: "You know they’re not left-wing. I think when he gets into power... The difference between him and Starmer is this: Starmer says he’ll do something and never does. The thing with Farage — whatever he says, I believe he will do."
